Guest chong168 Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 What is the best browser to use on the Vega? Would I be better off sticking to the stock one?
Guest Redmirage Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 What is the best browser to use on the Vega? Would I be better off sticking to the stock one? Only speed : Steel is best but no pinch to zoom Interface : dolphin hd is good. I like gesture setting.

Guest MaxiP Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 I'm really liking dolphin hd - nice interface and easy to use.
Guest debs626 Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Dolphin HD is pretty good, I'm giving Xscope a try and I'm quite liking it, very simple layout like the stock browser but it has tabs :( its pretty fast too.
Guest T4ylor Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 I have tried quite a few and my personal opinion based on speed, ease off use and layout is that Xscope6 is the best.
Guest surly cat Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Dolphin Browser HD is the best browser I've tried (and I've tried several). Tabbed browsing alone makes it a better choice than stock. It also lets you swipe to open and close your bookmarks, which is very convenient. If you use it for more than a few days, you'll realize what a powerful and complete browser it is, full of options and features. Review: http://www.pocketpicks.co.uk/index.php/201...r-hd-android-2/

Quite a fan of xScope now as well, especially the fact in can sync the bookmarks with the stock bookmarks (for use with the launcher pro bookmark widget) is a BIG plus. Pretty similar with miren in quite a few aspect imo (just can't get a link to open in a new tab in the background with xscope ;))
Guest Bazabaza Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Dolphin keeps crashing on mine...
Guest £note Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 On the subject of Dolphin can some kind user offer some help with an issue I'm currently having. I prefer to use my Vega predominantly in landscape format and when using dolphin the bookmarks panel is permanently open and I can't find a way to close it. This takes up a quarter of the screen on the left and shifts the page I'm looking at a similar distance to the right which cuts off some of the page detail...very frustrating! I fully expect that this is down to a setting somewhere that I've missed but I've searched till I'm blue in the face and can't find how to close it. If I use it in portrait everything is fine so I'm convinced it's me and not the browser. Thanks for any help. :(

Guest marmankites Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Dolphin HD for me, Brilliant on the Vega
Guest worto03 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 another vote here for dolphin HD, I tried a few and settled on this one. I like the bookmarks panel that you can slide open and shut & the gestures are great for websites you visit often. I just draw a big 'V' on the screen and it brings me here now :( Oh and the tabs - although a little fiddly to select on dolphin are a must for any browser in my book these days.
Guest £note Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 You can open bookmarks by swiping your finger horizontally from the left edge of the screen. To slide it back, just do the reverse. Well that works fine in portrait but not in landscape. I guess this is something that's only affecting me, everyone else seems quite happy. Thanks for the reply.
Guest massjourney Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 dolphin HD +1 ... its a great browser my only quirk with it is the way the tabs scroll with the page... is there any way to lock the tabs on the screen all the time?
Guest £note Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Deleted my installation and downloaded again from the market, problem sorted :( Dolphin now back as my favourite browser.
Guest danielj58 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 +1 for miren Xscope is also pretty good, but miren pips it for me as it's free. Both have a very desktop feeling and on miren (not sure if you can with xscope, only played with it for 10 mins) you can change the user agent so websites see it as a different browser. I run it as an iPad, and it optimizes most big websites (BBC and Facebook being the main ones), it disables facebook chat (a huge help) and gives you a desktop like interface on the BBC site. Only downside is it fools iPlayer into trying to feed it a quicktime stream instead of a flash stream.
