Guest tyshone Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Ok Guys and Gals I really want a Vega! I am married to an accountant. I own a laptop and a desktop computer as well as a Ipod Touch 32. I'm looking for justification for purchasing the Vega. Is there anything that can be done on the Vega that can't be done on the other three devices I listed?

Unless your looking for a portable device with extended battery life compared to the first two you'll probably not be able to justify :(

Guest rvdgeer Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 .. ps married to an accountant... hisssssssssssss :( Aren't gifts tax deductible in some way? ;) Plus: An Android tab (like the Vega) will shut you up for some time (cause you're too busy playing with it)... Will that help?
Guest unholyimp Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 1 Desktop is not portable at all 2 Laptop probably only last for about 2hrs on the battery 3 The other thing is well APPLE. BAH!!! So your best bet is to buy the Vega to welcome open source computing into you life. Tell you better half you're selling the Apple thing to right off against cost of the Vega. For everything you had the A thing for the Vega can do plus it will introduce you to open source computing. You may even find yourself downloading Ubuntu and really embracing free computing. The word free will make an accounts ears prick up :(
Guest MaxiP Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 My wife seems to think that being 'handbag' sized is as good a reason to buy one as any other reason ! But to echo what is said above, it would replace your laptop / PC when travelling giving same / similar functionality but with many added benefits (battery life, etc). Having shown mine last night to an ardent iPhone user, he can really see the benefit in an Android based tablet and couldn't believe how good value it was compared to the iPad.
Guest YorkieUK Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 I have a home PC, a laptop and an iPhone. I use them all but what I found was missing was a device I could boot up instantly and google on the fly but was bigger than the iPhone. It would also serve as a more portable media device without the power of a full blown laptop. Now I would of happily got an iPad if they were not so overpriced and have so many missing features (tether to iPhone and many many others). I use the Vega just like the iPad but with added USB and HDMI connectivity, easily imported avi and mp4 movies without the gnashing of teeth from iTunes. In fact I was rather smug stood in the kitchen chopping up vegetables for tea while watching Star Trek XI in HD on the Vega. Biggest problem I have is fighting the kids for it!
Guest _dg Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 It's refreshing that you can just pick it up, sit down on the settee, switch it on an there you are instantly connected to the net, or can read an electronic magazine/book, or watch a video. No waiting for the device to boot up Its more for viewing stuff, with little text input rather than normal text/number crunching. However, I would caution you to go and try one out to check out the screen viewing angles, as IMO, this is a major let-down.

The Vega makes a much better E-book reader than any of the above, and beats the Kindle hands down (the Kindle has no back light, it's not colour, it's not touch screen, and it has no contrast control). Install the Kindle app from Android Market and you are good to go, with 5000 free classic books from Amazon to get you started.
