Hi

I am using Alpha 4 of 2.2 and it is great.

With regards to the Email Application that is included in this rom (Email 2.2) is their any way to set the application to only keep say 7 days or 2 weeks worth of emails on the phone. It currently seams to want to synchronize every email on my Virgin Media account and is constantly downloading more and more old ones.

Perhaps I should try a different email app but I just thought I would ask first.

Cheers

Martin

looks like it's a pop3/imap issue. cant find any settings in my 2.2.

gmail and exchange allows timescale limits - seems weird.

Have you tried K-9 Mail? I think that will work for you. Look within K9 at settings>account settings >synchronize settings...

When I used froyo on my kaiser I could tell the default android email app how many days to download. With froyo on SF I don't have that option. Weird.

Cheers for the advice all. I am now happily using K9.

The other email app was downloading thousands of emails, and although they were stored on my SD card I suspected that the app kept the header (if that is what the info like "subject" and "from" is called) in the system memory and this gradually was filling up the system memory. Just a guess.

Thanks again

Were all of the offending emails in your "inbox"? I had the same thing when I first set up a POP3 account and it finally forced me to do an inventory/organization of my inbox. Now I only get new emails and once they've been read and deleted from my phone they never cause notifications/downloads again even if I don't put them into a proper folder in my email account for a few days.

Hello together,

I'm happy that I could solve your problem.

K-9 Mail is an advanced email client for Android based on the standard android mail app.

It supports IMAP!!!! Not only POP3.

Link to the project page. http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/

There you can download the latest apk and view change log.

As it is for free you can also download it within the market.

Maybe we can convince a modder to implement it into a custom rom...
