Guest Daf. Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 Doesn't work for me either Glad it's not just me then, i find it strange to be honest. It could be an android thing, or perhaps just a vega thing that someone may have a fix for. I've tried changing settings etc but no luck.

Thanks I have also tried it with mywi iphone 4 and it doesn't see the network. Really wanted to get this to work as tethering is a big thing when you haven't got wi-fi out and about Edited December 28, 2010 by carl rose
Guest SilentMobius Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 I have also tried it with mywi iphone 4 and it doesn't see the network. Really wanted to get this to work as tethering is a big thing when you haven't got wi-fi out on about A quick google about suggests that the mywi "infrastructure mode" isn't actually behaving like an infrastructure device properly, I see people having trouble with Linux/Android connecting to a mywi device. Looks like mywi is a bit of a hack and isn't 100% yet unfortunately.
Guest Daf. Posted December 27, 2010 Report Posted December 27, 2010 My network is being picked up by the vega but just wont connect? Im going to try and USB tether to my vega to see if that works.

Thanks I have the same problem. Now looking for an alternitave iPhone thether app.
Guest Genieuk Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 I've also tried pdanet on the iphone, that does not work either. I set the iphone up as a hotspot. My laptop and all other devices connect to it fine. Only the vega cannot connect. Even tried different channels. Therefore i think the problem is at the vega end. Any ideas appreciated. Would also better if there was a solution via bluetooth, i.e. iphone bluetooth tether, or even iphone usb thether
Guest trebor63 Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Hi there is a fix for this problem somewhere on this site. It has to do with the Vega not the iPhone. The Vega does not support natively the ad-hoc network that kiwi creates. It involves some software mods on the Vega which I wasn't to confident in doing just yet. quote name='Genieuk' date='Dec 28 2010, 11:54' post='1534056'] I've also tried pdanet on the iphone, that does not work either. Guest SilentMobius Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Right, Odd that on the mifi site they talk about no needing to "mess about creating an ad-hoc connection" as that's all it is: ad-hoc. So yeah Android doesn't connect to ad-hoc networks only infrastructure. There is a hack to wpa_supplicant in this forum that _should_ help but it's not a standard part of Android so you're mostly on your own.
Guest MaxiP Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 (edited) Anyone got this working yet? The fix for ad hoc wireless connectivity was included in MCR r7 so that may have fixed the problem. I know that I can tether my Vega to my Android phone but haven't tried an iphone. Guest Tony Williams Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 On R8 still not working Works fine for me with MyWI 4.0 on my Iphone 3GS. I`m using MCR R7 which had the option to include the modified WPA_SUPPLICANT file when baking the rom. Alternatively there are several threads on here with links to the modified file if you want to apply it yourself (this also works as I did this prior to upgrading to R7). Tony

Tony Using MyWi 4.0 on Iphone 3GS (Latest Firmware) Tried R7 including WPA_SUPPLICANT (isn't MyWi WEP?) seems to connect then tries to get an IP address then disconnects.

Sending this from a train using miwi on iphone 4 Couldn't get it work with wep but fine without (mr7)
Guest Minimonkey Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Sending this from a train using miwi on iphone 4 Couldn't get it work with wep but fine without (mr7) I can confirm it works without security...... o well share the tinternet and all. Maybe the next iPhone software 4.3 will work with security as 4.3 has the ability to be a wireless router without the extra monthly contract...
Guest Minimonkey Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 IPhone software update now available which includes Personal Hotspot.
Guest YorkieUK Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 IPhone software update now available which includes Personal Hotspot. Yes finally!, they also enabled USB connection (without iTunes) so you can tether 3 ways but check your contract, with vodafone they charge you £5 per 500megs of tethered data (of your already paid for data package). Gits
Guest demonicsilk Posted March 12, 2011 Report Posted March 12, 2011 IPhone software update now available which includes Personal Hotspot. Shame you have to still pay for tethering, guess jaillbreak is the only way
