Guest Wingo Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Every time I apply a new ROM to my Desire it goes into a reboot loop. I've tried leaving it for a while, reapplying the update but the only two things that seem to work are restoring to a previous backup and reapplying or doing a factory reset. Now I don't want to lose all of my messages, contacts, apps, etc every time I apply a new ROM. Is there any way to avoid this looping?
Guest OzVic Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Wiping the Cache and the Dalvik Cache (Advanced) has usually solved this for me.
Guest mj_blue Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Another scenario is if you had some a2sd setup on the old rom and didn't apply the a2sd zip before the reboot. I always forget to do this.
Guest BashyUK Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 You shouldn't need to apply any a2sd or d2sd script manually, providing you have an ext partition, that's all you have to do, the ROM picks it up auto. My own recommendation from experience is always do a cache/dalvik-cache and battery stats wipe. A data wipe should only be needed if changing to a diff rom altogether or unless the dev recommends it due to major changes.
