Guest d.rishi Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Hi, I am an absolute beginner on this so have no idea about a lot of the available options on this forum but having searched through the forum I have been unable to find a solution to my problem. I received a San Francisco for xmas and have since unlocked it from Orange to o2. Having only used it for a few days I have encountered a problem. I am unable to send texts to many contacts, but can still occasionally send a few to other contacts. I have looked at the settings on my phone and the ‘Service Centre’ number is the correct number for o2. I have not installed any software on it yet, I was wondering if I could install anything/alter anything that could solve my issue? Many thanks.
Guest Dr00g Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 (edited) Do you have signal? Are you in flight mode? Edited December 28, 2010 by Dr00g
Guest d.rishi Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Do you have signal? Even with signal this problem exists
Guest d.rishi Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Reckon it is a faulty handset?
Guest lljkpugna Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 My girlfriend's SF is having the same problem. I've a feeling the APN settings are wrong, and her SIM card is pre-3G so that can't help. Going to take it to an O2 store today to check!
Guest Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Ditto! Sometimes I need to put the phone on and off to send a text after trying a few times. I see loads of posts re APN settings. Does anyone know the definitive ones????? Hope it isn't faulty!
Guest breadmonks Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 I'm also getting this problem, on a SF that's unlocked and now running on Virgin. I get an error message saying "The number you have sent to is incorrect. If you are sending to an international destination you need to precede the number with a +" I'm not sending to international numbers (based in the uk and only texting uk numbers), and the numbers I am texting are correct as they sometimes send. I tried re-saving the numbers with a + before each one, but that made no difference. Anyone find a fix? Any more ideas? Pretty annoying glitch! C
Guest Lew247 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) Text message centre numbers are stored in the sim card (picture message numbers are stored on in the apn in the phone this is different to the normal sms number) If your having problems especially the last one above I really suspect it's an old sim card and needs to be replaced. Call your network provider say you dropped your phone in the toilet or something and need a new sim card - they'll send you one in the post for free Edited January 8, 2011 by Lew247
