Dose any one know exactly what causes this parsing issue when downloading apk files with the vega. I know the solution is to download then on to the miscro sd card via the pc but it would be better to download it straght on to the sd and run it. Any one know a work around to get this working on the vega?

Is there an issue? I've downloaded plenty of apk files without any problems.

Likewise, what is the 'issue' you have?

As far as I understand there's a problem when downloading apk's from most filesharing sites...

Even when downloading a file from the MoDaCo forum can cause troubles when there's loadbalancing...

I know mediafire, megaupload an rapishare mostly work, but other sites almost always tell me the download was unsuccessful or the apk simply won't install because of this parse error...

When you say "parse" error, is this an error message which Android shows you when you try to install the APK?

An APK is just a ZIP file. If you have 7Zip, right click the APK and extract it to a folder. Does it extract OK? If you have another ZIP utility, rename the APK to ZIP and do whatever it is that you do to extract. If the file is corrupt due to the download, the extract should fail.

Also curious to understand why you are resorting to file sharing to get APKs. Are you not able to get them from the market?

Finally, as a workaround, if the problem you have is only when you download direct to the Vega and you're doing that because it's easier than copying files, then 2 immediate workarounds would be to use Droid Explorer or Android Commander, both of which make it very easy to copy files to the Vega, or to use Dropbox to download the files to your PC then sync them across to the Vega.

Solved this issue a while back on mine instead of clicking the apk just long press it then click save link (miren browser) hope this helps

Not had a problem since using this method I just browse to the downloads folder in astro to install if its a zip file use Androzip to unzip
