Guest rbbrslmn Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 my sister got a san francisco off her husband for xmas, and like us all she's pretty happy with it. HOWEVER! she seems to have burnt through £20 credit mostly on data in a couple of days, and I can't work out what she's using it on, she says she's only really been using it for facebook and email (yahoo mail app) a bit of browsing of the BBC site (she might have meant the bbc news app) and hasnt been watching video or anything like that what could possibly be leeching data? she's on the stock rom

There are a number of data monitoring apps in the market that could probably tell you where it's going.

Guest lixcab Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Orange UK, you can purchase £5 data extra (will take from your current PAYG credit) to get 250MB. Getting on the dolphin PAYG plan helps too. Also, calling 453 and choosing 1 and 1 will give you an update of current usage. For data usage there are a lot of apps that could download data updates - Facebook, weather apps, IM apps, email app, et. al.

I'll take a closer look at her phone next time I see her, but personally I was shocked since I'm 10x the net addict she is and for me £10 on orange lasted about 6 weeks... it won't matter in terms of cost since I've give her a giffgaff sim which should fix that problem, I'm just perplexed as to what could be using such seeminly massive amounts of data!
Guest xtasy Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 I got a SF last month and was browsing, downloading some apps from market, checking facebook etc. and I have 200MB used now. So it's not a SF problem I think. Your is hiding something :(
