(also have an Android Device showing but at the top of the Device Manager tree and not as part of the USB tree as with the previous install) when I try then to run the update from the: install-windows.bat all I see is a command box flash up and disappear and nothing happens??? when I double click the install-windows.bat a command box opens and nothing happens. what the hell am I doing wrong, was running the previous version of Paul's rom with performance pack no probs....... Windows 64bit Help appreciated....... of to play on the 360 and have some beer so will keep on eye on any advice on my Vega if an when anyone can fig out what I've done wrong! Cheers :(
Guest arad85 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Sounds like you don't have debugging turned on on the Vega

Guest Dayzee Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Please ignore me if this is obvious, its just with you saying you double clicked on the install-windows.bat file, I thought you may not be using adb properly You need to do this via adb in a command window Open a command prompt window and change the directory to be where you unzipped all your files from the update. in mine, I put them in a file called vega in root of my c drive, so I type cd C:\\vega\ Then I type adb-windows devices (just to check my device is connected and seen by adb - should return with a device number showing, if not, drivers are wrong) Once that works, then you type install-windows.bat and away it all goes. Its important that all the files in the zip are in the root of wherever you point - I unzipped then moved all the contents to my vega folder because I couldn't be bothered to type out the long folder file name :( Hope that helps, and if its granny sucking eggs time, my apols ;) xx Dayz xx

Maybe a silly thing but you have got it in USB slave havent you?

Guest griff_dai Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 I will try again in the morning as left it for now. Never had a problem with the official update and Paul's R4 but this is strange, will try again with what's suggested above. USB slave,is that the same as USB debugging? I assumed that when in recovery I would see the same USB android device indicator as the r4 rom. The nvidia thing has thrown me,I will move the rom to the C drive and try again. Cheers so far for the help :(

Cheers so far for the help :( I was thinking that I read somewhere that you had installed the USB switcher but after checking I must have been wrong so forget the USB slave because you will have not changed it. All I can do is go through exactly what I did and do to update mine. It’s not intended to try and teach you to suck eggs but hopefully might help you see if you have missed anything. 1, First of all download your baked rom and extract it to your desktop or where ever you normally put your updates (no need to extract anything else) 2, Ensure that you have debugging enabled on your Vega 3, connect your Vega via the usb cable to your computer and ensure that the Vega is switched on (you should hear you computer make a sound if you have the sound switched on) 4, open the extracted r6 folder and double click the install-windows.bat file Hopefully this should now install the r6.

That is what I did? The Vega connection throws up the Nvidia connection in the USB tree,I know I'm in recovery and I get that command box open and close before it does anything, double click and I get a command box open and it don't do owt,do I need to type a command into that box? Guest griff_dai Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 I take it that the USB for r6 is the same as the last build? Why do I get the Nvidia driver showing in recovery? Anyhow, bedtime now........ Catch ya all tomorrow

Just realised, in your steps you don't mention the recovery steps,do I need to do that??

Maybe worth trying it again just to make sure that each step is followed exactly. When you say recovery you’re not going through the 2 second button sequence are you? I have never installed any of the rom by typing anything into the command bow although others have. I know that some people right click of the .bat file and run as administrator so you could give that a try.
