tried to do a debranding using the website below (I didnt know about this one). I have installed Clockwork recovery (2.5.1.3) ok but when I run the debrand files from the SD cards the installation has failed. Now I cant get the phone to turn on

http://www.chrislowthian.co.uk/how-to-unlo...francisco/1824/

It failed when copying over files and I get a message saying "e:board does not support mtd utilsE:Failure at line 78:

Hoping someone can help here

use a different version of clockwork - 2.5.1.3 is broken, either downgrade or upgrade

ok - spot the Noob

All was working and the phone is debranded.

The phone now seems to be switching itself off when it goes to sleep. Cant turn it on unless I take the battery out. I turn it back on, the green Android dude comes up and then followed by the blue one. then the flashing android text comes up. I take it that is normal startup process for a debranded phone?

Any ideas why it turns itself off when it sleeps?

you have a rom not compatible with your phone

(oled rom with a tft phone or the opposite)

which rom have you used exactly ? your phone is surely tft ?

yup - its a TFT screen and I guess you are right with the screen problem

I got the ROM from the site above. I'll go through the pinned topics on here and find one compatible with a TFT screen and hopefully that fixes it up.

Do any 2.2 rom's have a radio? Its something I normally used quite a lot (but i did listen to it today before debranding and I couldn't hear a thing outside, the volume is so low).

My first de-branding attempt did exactly the same because I had chosen the wrong firmware (OLED instead of TFT). The good thing though is that it is easily rectified by flashing the correct firmware.

Check out This thread as it lists all the available ROM's and what screen types they support etc.

I'm on the case and downloading now Russell. thanks for all your help guys

Sticking to a 2.1 rom for the moment so just gonna try a few. Downloading the Kendon one customised by Freekers. I'm sure it will be find and anything better than what I had.

Just off topic - do you guys have any major problems with sun glare? Was outside today with it and couldnt see a thing on the screen.

Yes, the oled used in the SF is rubbish in direct sunlight. I believe Super AMOLED displays have less of a problem but they're not installed in any Blades so far. Fwiw I'd prefer a tft cos I satnav quite a bit

yeah, its actually the TFT screen I have and I cant see a thing when outside. I'll play around with the brightness control today to see if that helps.
