Guest oh!dougal Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 I must say that I rather like the version KK has installed in his roms. My only quiibble is the lack of vibration/haptic feedback on pressing a key. The menu option doesn't seem to do anything. I suppose this is from the software's root being an emulator (without vibration hardware!) Has this been resolved now?
Guest steviem Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Oh!dougal, it seems to work for me. It wasn't selected, but I clicked Menu, Settings, Language and Keyboard and then at the bottom there is GingerKeyboard. I clicked in there and it has a checkbox for Vibrate on Keypress. It works, but I'm not a fan of my phone vibrating so much!
Guest Frankish Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Is this any different to what is preinstalled in Japanese Jellyfish cos that one seems fine?

I'm enjoying the Gingerbread keyboard in Fillyjonk (Eclair - 2.1) ... Soon ! :(
Guest AndyHibberd Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Is this any different to what is preinstalled in Japanese Jellyfish cos that one seems fine? Not sure, I haven't tried JellyFish. I'm on Paul's latest release, any advantages in jelly? This one is a single apk so can sit as a normal app, seems as though all functionality is working. Andy
Guest Frankish Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Only real advantage is that it is based on a release rom and not on a beta rom. I haven't had a screen freeze yet either but i've only had it for two days.
Guest AndyHibberd Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 OK. I had a terrible session yesterday where I had to reboot my phone 3 times because of non-responsive screen. Hopefully this will be cleared once we get an official release.
Guest Frankish Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Yeah using alpha 4 i would sometimes go a week without a freeze then get 2 in a day...real crap.
Guest jurrasstoil Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 (edited) Hey, does this one support the multitouch features of the gingerbread keyboard? (e.g. holding shift to type multiple capital letters) the one that comes with fillyjonk rls4 doesn't and it seems like one of the most useful keyboard improvements. Guest reallordx Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Seems to work, no small size (havent rebootet yet) Hey, does this one support the multitouch features of the gingerbread keyboard? (e.g. holding shift to type multiple capital letters) the one that comes with fillyjonk rls4 doesn't and it seems like one of the most useful keyboard improvements. As I deleted the other version from xda's hotaru, i can't say that his version doesn't have the same feature, but: When u use this (and probably other gingerbread keyboard versions as well) keyboard, u can double press the shift key to enter "capital letter mode". Pressing once lets u type one capital letter, pressing twice activates a small led on the shift key and u can enter as many capital letters as u want until u press shift again. Not really multitouch, but better than nothing i guess.
Guest That-Guy Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Anyone want to pop up a screen shot of this keyboard please?
Guest AndyHibberd Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Anyone want to pop up a screen shot of this keyboard please? Seriously? Google Gingerbread keyboard. There's a youtube video too. As for multi-touch; nope.
Guest reallordx Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Layout is German, I'm using the version linked in this thread on MCR 2.2 A3.
Guest That-Guy Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Thanks for the screen shots  Would you say the buttons are bigger or smaller than the standard 2.2 keyboard? I struggle with my fat fingers B)
Guest AndyHibberd Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 You are using Paul's ROM release there? How did you get the Gingerbread theme on it?

I struggle with my fat fingers B) They seem to be a bit smaller :/ You are using Paul's ROM release there? How did you get the Gingerbread theme on it? Yeah, Pauls 2.2 A3, but that not a gingerbread theme, that's Revo's (#1 post, last theme). But gingerbread is also available as a theme (#1 post, first theme).
Guest rayraven Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Seriously? Google Gingerbread keyboard. There's a youtube video too. As for multi-touch; nope. Multi-touch works fine here for me, on Jap Jelly.
Guest AndyHibberd Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 So you can hold shift with one finger and press another key then it returns to normal typing?
Guest SWOriginal Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 So you can hold shift with one finger and press another key then it returns to normal typing? Yep! multitouch works here too
Guest UbaRolfey Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 So you can hold shift with one finger and press another key then it returns to normal typing? Multitouch works fine for me using r4, but I hate the GB keyboard and would rather use the original Android keyboard, I don't see it as anything special at all, it's no more responsive that I can see, the keys are smaller for sure, and I don't see that I should be getting super excited about multitouch, it's not really going to be a deal breaker, I would rather have a keyboard that I can type on the easiest, and the larger the keys, the more chance of that I would think, and obviously having autocorrect on also helps. Either the 2.2 android or HTC ported keyboard are better in my opinion. Mike
Guest AndyHibberd Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 No multitouch on mine, running latest r5 Paul's 2.2 and the ginger keyboard posted above...
Guest Kthulhu Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Whit Seb Froyo rom r3, when mobile is tilled the keyboard take all the screen and you can not see the text box at all. Does somebody know how to fix it? is a rom specific issue?
Guest philippe75017 Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 hello, is my understanding correct : the dictionnaries (FR, ES, etc) are included in the apk ? or shall i download somewhere else (or it would DL automatically at keyboard installation many thanks, ph.

Doubt you need to include them as the language files are available and included based on the internationalization/locale settings. Cannot believe this thread is resurrected, as use CM7 and it has the Gingerbread keyboard built in...
