kernal version change?

Hi all,when i got my vega it came with kernal version 1.4 so i installed pauls r4mod and everything was fine

Yesterday i installed pauls usb mode switcher which works fine but i dont want to install r6 yet as it means i will have to upgrade my official firmware to 1.06 and because i dont want to lose flash and piss about with recovery mode i havnt bothered.

But after checking my kernal version today it shows up as v1.6.5 is this the result of the usb mode switcher?

Im not actually running that am i?

Does it mean i can install pauls r6 mod without going to the advent site?

Any help much appreicated
