I doubt any of them are ideal for everyone.... some have a mix of apps that are not desirable, or poorly edited build.prop files and so on.

Been through most (but not the Froyo ones as they are still very much WIP and I need a phone that works reliably) - I have an OLED Blade. I personally don't get why some folk chase ultimate speed performance on a phone rather than functionality and/or power efficiency... but that's just my view. I have other portable and non-portable devices that are designed for speed...! Having said that, some of the ROMs here should be viewed as a basis for your own customisation and rework, and there is definitely some fun to have with this, and a sense of achievement. I use a second TFT Blade to "play" with my own builds. Which is not my primary phone! Part of the purpose of this site is to allow a whole community of Beta testers to "contribute" to a goal. Whatever that goal is.

My present favourite is the original Paul R4 - BUT with some corrections made to build.prop and updated drivers and some apps removed, some updated and some added to suit my needs. This is 100% reliable for me and has everything I need, now. I keep this up to date on the PC and push parts of it or zip and copy to the SD card periodically so I always have a good known entitity.

For what it is worth...

can anybody tell me, what are the differences between

- paul's froyo

- kalt_kaffee's froyo

- seb's froyo

I didn't look at the forum for 2 weeks and now, there are soo many new threads and roms :(

(I'm still on FLB's froyo...)

^I used to be on FLB as well, moved onto kallt_kaffe's Japn Jellyfish.

Only things changed are the working light sensor and gps has no issues.

Also, with the new fm radio app, only issue with froyo now is the not-working hard-button backlights.

I'm using Sebastian404's Froyo with HW_UI and stagefright enabled because it's very tidy, stable and fast. No one reported screen freezes or exaggerated battery consumption (opposed to the Japanese Jellyfish or Paul's Froyo). It also uses a "beta .32 kernel", maybe that's why it is so stable? Don't know.

all froyo custom roms share the same kernel atm. Most suspect that the kernel is responsible for the screen freezes, so if you get them or not is luck.

Jap Jellyfish RLS3, stock android lockscreen as opposed to pauls rom which uses the awfull ZTE lockscreen and has the best battery life of any Froyo rom i have tried.

This seems to be a somewhat lazy way of not having to read any topics to make a choice?

Why don't you start with saying what you use, and why, and which add-ons?

Sebastian said he uses another "beta" version of the .32 kernel, maybe that's why in 10 pages on his Froyo thread no one complained about screen freezes, compared to Japanese Jellyfish, Paul's or Flibble's Froyo?

i like seb's roms. very clean and free of junk.

Yeap, that's why I love them too, don't understand why the other developers (with all do respect  ) bloat their releases. If I want something I can get it from the market, just give me a tidy, clean zippy ROM, i'll install what suits my needs and not what the developer thinks I need.

@gambieter - I find this not being lazy, it's a centralized discussion where we share our experiences with ROMS, what's the problem? The number of ROMS keeps rising, I find such a discussion constructive.

They all use the kernel from the leaked chinese version, simply because there is no newer working kernel.

no one knows the reason for the freezes, but most likely it has to do with the kernel.

Your link does not work, it redirects me to the start page of modaco. I think JJ uses Paul's kernel (don't know if he modified the original chinese leak) and Seb uses the original one from the chinese leak. Look in FLB's Froyo Thread on page 50 post 993. As I said, no sanfran on 10 pages in a week had a single screen freeze (including mine-power user, my wife's-light user and my best friend's-medium user), that's why I think there's something different. The screen freeze was a no-go for me for Froyo because I use my sanfran for productivity too, that's why I kept switching back to 2.1, untill Seb's 2.2 appeared.

//edit linking doesn't work for whatever reason:

this rom froze on me

usual lockscreen freeze when you wake it up.

no notifcations, but its likely i did move between antenna's (around 3-4 miles down the road, so i presume a tower switch).

Happy New Year !

Just installed the Froyo Jellyfish (ie. kalt_kaffee's one). And I plan to stick with it

Tried Paul's one and FLB, good roms though, but only Jellyfish gave me that feeling of "cleanliness": fully (really) translated in Italian (I understand English, but a mixed two-language phone gives me headache), it starts with the Android configuration wizard on first boot, as if the phone was new, no crappy ZTE lockscreens... for me it's the choice B)

I was on sebs 2.1 and it was solid so seemed sensible to follow onto his 2.2 rom. Only had a few force closes since the rom came out so i see no point in changing
