Hi there,

as it looks a little bit difficult to find shared homebrew apps for unlocked WP7 devices I decided to start this thread.

Note: The attached .xap files you only can install on your device if it´s unlocked with ChevronWP7 or an official developer license.

How to sideload more than 10 apps ?

Unlock your device with a modded ChevronWP7 version: ChevronWP7_NoSideloadLimit.zip Credits to xda user hounsell

How to prevent phone re-locking while synching ?

Before connecting the phone to the workstation turn on airplane mode.

But how to re-unlock the device after synch with zune ?

1. Have Winphone developer tools installed

2. Connect Phone via USB

3. Wait till zune starts and sync completes

4. Verify that zune is not in a guest relationship

5. open a command prompt, type netstat -a to confirm that port 443 is not being used

6. open an admin command prompt, navigate to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ then type notepad hosts and delete any references to windowsphone developer services

7. go to the settings on the phone and turn airplane mode on (so that the phone is forced to use internet via zune)

8. While the phone is still on the settings page, run Chevron with admin privileges

How to deploy .xap files to my phone ?

1. Do it with Windows Phone Development Tools => application deployment

2. Do it with this tool:Tom XAP Installer

Edit: Install Tom XAP Installer with admin privileges !

How to run a program with admin privileges ?

Right mouse click on the file you want to run and select "Run as administrator".

No. If there is any device specific restriction I will add a hint (like touchexplorer that atm only works on HTC devices).

I opened the thread in OMNIA7 section because it´s my device...

If you want move the thread to the WP7 software section.

Tried every way I could think of and could not get the unlock to recognize my Focus. Zune shows it connected but ChevronWP7 cannot find a connection. I did the "cert email and is says it installed the certificate OK.

Sorry for the wrong posting area but I thought someone here could offer suggestions. By the way, somehow my focus got corrupted and I had to do a hard reset to get things back to where I could reload everything. I don't know if the two things are connected or not.

Did you modify the registry of your workstation before trying to unlock your Focus ?

If not add the following file to the registry of your workstation: ChevronWP7.rar

=> Go to startmenu and type in the search field: regedit

after that import the registry file

=> unlock your device as described in the xda thread

If your phone is unlocked the ChevronWP7.exe shows a relock button. The best way to test it is installing an app with Tom xap installer.

Technically as long as you are not releasing the application as your own it shoudl be ok, as hopefully everyone is aware no commercial (paid) apps are allowed and posting such may result in your account being closed.

Altering the icon is an interesting idea but I would suggest the developer is informed if you with to publish their work.

They may not have a problem with it but at least if you ask and they say no it can be removed without causing too much trouble.

Thanks for your statement. Anyway this should be a place only for released homebrew apps.

What I will do is posting a "How to change the icons of a xap file" so that the users are able to customise their homebrew apps by themselves.
