Hi

I'm trying to flash my SF but I keep getting this message. Sorry for being a newbie, but what does it mean and what am I doing wrong?

Formatting BOOT:...

E:Board does not support mtd utils.E:Failure at line 413:

write_raw_image PACKAGE:boot.img BOOT:

Installation Aborted

I've tried two different ROMs and I get the same message on both.

Thanks

Simon

P.S. I think this is a OLED verison as it's black, but i'm not 100% sure.

Try renaming the file to update.zip then applying the flash from the clockwork recovery.

Hopefully this should help you

You need to go to choose zip then choose zip not update

For applying an entire rom update? easier to rename to update.zip as in 99% of the guides on here I would have thought

If flashing by CWM you don't need to rename - there is an option to select the zip file you wish to update with.

OP are you 100% sure that the file you're using for update checks out with MD5? What about your SD card is that showing signs of corruption?

This happened for me (when using ClockworkMod 2.5.1.3 and selecting the .zip) when trying to flash 'Hungarian Hedgehog' or 'Custom BladeVillain', but I've had no problems with others I've tried, including Froyo Roms (Currently using Japanese Jellyfish and just about to flash new rls, very happy with it).

I suspected it might have been an issue with my ClockworkMod Recovery version but haven't tried again since updating to newer version...

Try updating CMR to version 2.5.1.8 or trying a different Rom

P.S. You can confirm what screen type you have by dialing *983*24474636# in the dialer. (refer to “Glass” )...

OLED

LCD Information:

IC: TL2796

Glass: Samsung

TFT/LCD

IC: NT35580

Glass: LEAD

or

Glass: TRULY

Using the stock dialler? If the code is correct and recognised then it will activate as soon as you press the final "#" -- you shouldn't get to the point of being able to press Dial (and you shouldn't press Dial!).

need chipertest.apk in /system/app/

I am using the stock dialer but it doesn't seem to work. I don't think I have that other file (chipertest.apk ) in my system\app folder (can't even find a folder called app in system?)
