When using launcherpro etc does it eat battery more / slow the phone down?

Launcherpro doesn't.... I get 3 days light/mixed use.... so nothing "eating" battery as such.

I also avoid HW acceleration like the plague.... and any other "go-faster" bumpf

I don't think any of them eat battery. ADW seems to give the same battery life as that stock android launcher. If anything they make the phone faster with their added functionality, and ADW is smoother than the stock launcher for me.

Others to look at are Zeam launcher and Go launcher (Go is relatively unheard of, but its smoother than all the rest, and has a nice icon set. I don't get on with the app drawer very well though)
