EDIT: Solved. Seems SD card can be corrupted when u install stuff on ROMs with A2SD(+) while phone is on charger and phone accidentally mounts SD card because of that. In that case stuff is required to be saved on SD while this is impossible (at least that's my hunch). With no means to partition SD card without bootable phone I found that flashing a MCR without A2SD(or +) and WITH Rom manager. After a final succesful boot I used Rom manager to repartition my SD and got everything back to work. Pfew!

Guys,

Hope someone can help. I have a rooted Desire with MCR R9 incl A2SD+ and I cannot get it back alive... (yes: recovery mode still workz but restoring backups or factory reset does not work: SD Ext seems corrupted)

This is what happened:

- I have installed some files on a rooted Desirewhile my phone was charging and accidentally

this was when SD card was mounted. Think this may have caused SD Ext to be corrupted.

- Phone still worked nice afte reset but after battery was down later that day, my phone did not

restart. Luckily I did make a nandroid backup that day but...

- When trying to restore that Nandroid backup it stopped after ending up in the SD-Ext part so...

- I figured I first needed to factory reset it, then install Rom Manager and repartition my SD card but...

- Phone also hung after factory reset (?!!) so...

- I backed up my SD card and reformatted my SD card on my Win7 pc with Paragon Partition Magic

- Then restored the clockwork backup and tried another restore of it but still SD ext was giving trouble?!?

Problem now: think unrooting the device will be my only option but (a) will that work while phone is not fully booted (ie from recovery menu)? or (B) is there something else I need to do???

Hope anybody can help?!

Thanks,

Martijn

not sure if Paragon Partition Magic reads ext partitions, but if it does then i recommend you get rid of ur ext partition if possible then format ur sd card to fat 32 then remake ur ext partition with Paragon Partition Magic or use gparted off a ubuntu disk without any changes to your system. your best bet though is to get gparted running under a linux environment it may be able to repair ur ext partition if it corrupt

Try using a Ubuntu live CD with gparted to competely erase the partition, and recreate it.

Ubuntu is no option. Only have a laptop from work. What if I'd just repartition the SD slot as FAT32 and then add an MCR without A2SD so it won't expect any ext?

The way I did it on my work laptop......

Locate a blank CD-ROM or a USB memory stick of 512Mb or larger, then download 'system rescue CD' at : http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page to create a bootable medium.

To boot from it I entered into the computer bios to change the boot order to boot from CD-rom (& USB) first.

While booting from the CD-ROM I had to type: uk to select the correct keyboard layout.

Once booted, I typed: startx to start the graphical user interface. Then ran gparted via menu icons on the bottom of the screen.

It's graphical and easy to follow, allowing creation, resizing and deletion of partitions. Various partition types are supported.

WARNINGS: Back up the content of the SD card before you embark on this process. Ensure you are able to identify the correct drive (by size ?) before applying any changes within gparted !!!!!!!!!!!!!

When in doubt rtfm & remember google is your friend.
