"No Service" problem with my unlocked Orange SF

Well i just got my hands on a Orange Sf , straight away popped in my sim and entered the unlock code. what id notice is since i was indoors all day the network bard would jus show 2 or 3 at max and would drop to no service quite often when walking indoors. however when i go out the network usually stays

Im in India and in areas which has full coverage on every other phone.

So i rooted, and flashed the jellyfish froyo since then it shows full bars indoor at my house however going to any venue eg: mall or any bldg it always drops the network and shows no service for a while and would then resume, this for the most is quite irritating.

Is my phone broke ? Do i need to send it back for replacement? If yes what all would i need to submit back to Orange for the replacement. Any help on the topic would be appreciated.

I'm having this issue too, although it's not constant, happened to me yesterday in the middle of London. Just refused to connect but that said, was with GF who has a HTC and she was also on the same network and had same message.

I assume you should be able to take it back receipt or other proof of purchase and you should be able to get at least a replacement.

I'm not overly sure that New Year's day is the best time to be testing network resiliance! If the phone does the same thing tomorrow then I'd consider it might be worth investigating.

well tested it for a good whole day on the base rom same issue. flashed to jellyfish and tested for a whole day, although it "shows" more network bars on jellyfish, the issue still persists, my phone is more on to the "no service" status than times it has network.

ill have to figrue how to send this back to the UK and ofcourse flash the stock rom prior. would they need the whole box and contents for replacement or would just the phone do?

Any one else have any tips to suggest what could possibly fix this would be appreciated prior to send it back which is the last resort.

I believe that there have been a few other threads mentioning similar "No service" problems. If I recall correctly, some recommend sticking a few layers of tape to the back of your SIM card before putting it into the phone to ensure the necessary SIM connections are attached. It has been reported that this can make the phone work correctly if the SIM is a little loose!

hmm i can try that , i have however tried different sims which result in the same issue ,some friends have mentioned to try doing a radio update, is there one available for the phone ?

also can someone tell me what would orange request for to replace the phone , just the phone or the whole boxed contents.

If the SIM holder in the phone is a little loose it would seem logical that other SIMs might encounter a similar problem.

The tape thing is still worth a try so good luck there!

I'm pretty new to Android so don't know anything about a radio update but I've not read of such a thing on this forum!

no i checked and can confirm the sim card holder is pretty sturdy so no issues with that. Tried swapping sim cards to different operators. face the same issue there.
