Guest _kD Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Hey there. So I'm new to the forums, I am 17 and from the UK - I got my SF/Blade 2 days ago, and since have installed one of Pauls ROM's, and then reinstalled the stock ROM, because Pauls ROM (can't remember which one) was strange on my display, things were in the wrong place - for instance when you wake the phone up, and unlock it, the unlock was right in the middle of the screen, and the resolution was much higher (didn't really mind that much) I'm guessing this is due to the fact that I have the TFT screen. I just wanted to know a few things really - I'm not an idiot, and am pretty capable of doing just about anything, even though this is my first Android device - I have had alot of experience modding the PSP, and this isn't really too dissimilar. Anyway, back on topic. First things first, I'm confused about which ROM to put on the phone. They all boast different things, and there are loads - so I'm not sure which one to chose.. I want a rom that will make my SF faster, I mean it's not slow as it is, but I like to squeeze the most out of everything I have, because I'm a techy sort of guy. I'd also like it to look nice, and organised - becuase as it is, the stock phones homescreen ect.. look pretty crap. What ROM would you guys reccomend? If say, I bricked the phone (I did yesterday, but after going through about 15 versions of Clockwork Recovery, I managed to find that 2.5.0.9 worked, and successfully installed the ROM) anyway, like I said - If I bricked my phone, and I couldnt find a way to bring it back, because I'm assuming that if you wipe the data of the phone, and then the ROM fails to install on a version of Clockwork that you know works, then surely you can't put another ROM onto the phone, because the SD card is unaccessible if the phone is off, am I right? I backed up the phone, as soon as I knew what Titanium Recovery was - which was about an hour after it was out of the box - Then I copied the Titanium Recovery folder from my SD card, to my Computer just for safekeeping. I was just wondering how you would use those files to recover the original ROM back after having bricked the phone? I'd also like to know about some good sites for apps, and certain apps that you think I should download. Thanks for reading, I kind of went off on one, but I like to be thorough  Cheers! _kD.
Guest DarkCounter Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Have a look for the backup item in clockwork. With this you can make a backup of your whole system including installed apps. If something goes wrong you can easily boot again into clockwork and flash back your backup. Titanium is used for other reason: You have to wipe data & system when you change between ROMs. So you will loose all apps and data within. With Titanium you can backup both, app and data, and restore it in the new ROM. Hope that helps?

Also, what ROM do you think that is the best? I want one that is stable, and quick. Not really bothered about installed apps as I am more than happy to customize the phone to my needs. I really don't have anything against the standard ROM, but it is sluggish at times.. I have the white SF, with the TFT screen, just incase you wanted to know. I did install a Froyo 2.2 ROM - one of Pauls, but it was a higher resolution, so everything was about half the size, and things showed up in the wrong places .. (For example, the unlock screen, after taking it out of sleep mode, was right in the middle of the screen.. I think it was due to the fact have TFT. Aswell, what program would you recommend for the homescreen/making a homescreen? I really like the clock on the HTC Desire.. I have downloaded Beautiful Widgets, and LauncherPro, but have yet to install them, do these apps work on the SF? And, I'd quite like to replace the orange loadscreen with my own.. is there a program/tutorial that I can use to achieve this? Thanks, _kD.
Guest That-Guy Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 I am using Seb's 2.2 Froyo and think it runs so much better than the stock 2.1 More info and download here: http://www.chrislowthian.co.uk/upgrade-you...-versions/1898/ Hope this helps
