Guest protocold Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 I got the OSF with dolphin GBP10 top up. 1) Now, does it mean I can just get the free 100mb internet per month from now on? or do I have to recharge at a certain interval to have that? 2) Can I repick the animal now by calling 343? (I havent use it yet)
Guest MoreThanOK Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 1) No it means when you top up at least £10 you will get 100mb next month. So if you top up this month you will get 100mb next month. But if you don't top up £10 this month you won't get 100mb next month.
Guest protocold Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 I see. Thanks. But can I now change my animal then?
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 hummm in france there is the option to have unlimited internet for 12 euros per month (PAYG orange too) because 100 megs for an android phone isn't very much i use more or less 1 gig per month (i have an unlimited data plan)
Guest Frankish Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 I can easily use my 3gb limit in a month  100mb is a joke. I'd say unlock and switch to another network with at least 500mb/1gb. Probably cheaper elsewhere too.
Guest Azurren Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 I can easily use my 3gb limit in a month B) 100mb is a joke. I'd say unlock and switch to another network with at least 500mb/1gb. Probably cheaper elsewhere too. It's not a joke it's a con! They charge Per MB of additional data usage, you'll find yourself with zero credit randomly every month!
Guest veehexx Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) 100mb is plenty for just email sync. not enough for internet or online GPS (google maps/navigator) use though. sync to my work email and gmail, i'm using around 1-2mb/day sync. i found the 'data counter widget' useful for monitoring bandwidth if your interested in your current usage. ...not that i use the dolphin PAYG tariff. got my work simcard in it. Guest rbbrslmn Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 my sister on dolphin got a SF for xmas from her husband, without using it particularly heavily she managed to burn through the 100mb and all her credit by the 29th. unsuprisingly she rang up for her PAC that day. I managed to last three weeks on orange after getting my SF, after being with them for 10 years or so. their data charges are brutal.
Guest veehexx Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) rbbrslmn - i have to ask - what did she use the 100mb on? my guess is downloading apps.. no surprise it's ate her data. oh, btw, 100mb is fairly weak, but imo not bad for free on £10 topup. its PAYG anyway. Edited January 2, 2011 by veehexx
Guest Frankish Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Put it this way if you decide to flash a 2.2 rom and then another 2.2 rom or update then it will automatically download your apps for you. I could use that 100mb in one fresh froyo install
Guest jorgthegreat Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) I got the £10 dolpin top up with 100mb Allowance. Guess what, its only a 100mb allowance for certain websites (Orange,Facebook,Twitter) I used up my £10 allowance in 4 days without making a single call or text. Checked my 3g watchdog & i had only actually used 20mb of data. Phoned them up & they told me it was only for certain sites which i googled & seeminglt its true. Changed to GiffGaff now where i topped uo £5 & have unlimited internet till 28th Feb. Edited January 2, 2011 by jorgthegreat
Guest Gryphonic Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) GiffGaff is the best for PAYG internet. Free internet till 28 Feb, as jorgthegreat said - that's limited to 100mb per day, which should be enough, otherwise, £10 per month gets you unlimited (properly unlimited) internet, unlimited texts and 250mins. If your after a giffgaff sim with £5 free credit, get one Here Edited January 2, 2011 by Gryphonic

"I'd still be with orange but for the fact that I bought the san francisco and it exposed how bad their data charges are, same for my sister, both went to giffgaff, god knows how many people have left orange because they bought the san fran!

(google it and you will see a few topics on this) once active, dial 453, then after it reads your balance press 1 then 1 again and it will tell you how much you have ledt on your extras.
Guest Ralph Martin Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 When I got my SF, I registered for Dolphin. 4 days later £5 credit was gone, despite only a few Mb of data. I phoned and complained and was told I was on the "Starter package". I pointed out I registered for Dolphin and asked them to sort it out. I got £5 credit back, but 2 days later, nearly £10 credit was gone, and still way below my 100Mb free limit. I guess they left me on Starter. At that point I asked for a PAC code, and switched to Three, with £5 per month getting me 1Gb data.
Guest Ricey155 Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Orange is far the worse service about, ive been looking into it when my contract runs out in april there magic number aren't free there 20p which kinda makes you smile giffgaff the way forward gf's currently on orange dolphin 10 rubbish can't access yourorange to add magic numbers or swop tariffs
Guest Wolves4Ever Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Wow, those internet charges on Orange are brutal.. Have a look at what 3 has to offer on PAYG. I've been with them a year or so and found them pretty reasonable. Of course, when at home, I switch on the wifi and get the apps that way.

I'm not wrong mate, it was only last week. 40-50mb of data eat my whole £10.
