Guest aintcrackedityet Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 This is starting to really *iss me off now. I'm trying to connect to my normal wifi connection, it won't. The wifi status reads, scan...disconnect,,,,,scan.......disconnect......scan...disconnect. It sees my network ok so what the heck is the problem people. This seems to be turning into a bit of an advent bug. If i switch off my router and then back on again it will then scan, connect, get an ip address and then we are ok again. If I should then power off the advent and a little later power back up.......it won't connect again. No other item connected to my router plays up like this. ggggggggrrrrrrrrrr aincrackedityet

Guest aintcrackedityet Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 I had this. I used wep and had the same problem, changing to wpa solved it for me. I did that intially and have been running wpa since before xmas looking at other posts there is an underlying issue here......i'm sure it's a bug. The wep problem you mentioned shows itself as not being able to get an ip address this problem is a scan issue I mean why would it scan then disconnect thanks anyway aintcrackedityet
Guest radarrod Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 I think this is an android bug. I get the same problem on my dell streak (2.2) as I do on my vega. You have to shutdown and restart sometimes to get it to reconnect.....

You may also find that the Vega reconnects more quickly after sleeping with a fixed IP. G
Guest simonta Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Second the static IP address. Good for several reasons, including that quicker connect after sleep. Checkout "Wifi Static" on the market.

Guest simonta Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) not tried static ip, not sure how to do that, will read further. netgear router. what is wifi static all about, thanks simonta Wifi Static lets you configure static or dynamic on a connection by connection basis. E.g. at home or at friends places, I have static IP for fast resume. Everything else uses dynamic addressing. EDIT. Aintcrackedityet. If you are not familiar with DHCP vs static IP and configuring your router, then I agree with the comments in this thread and recommend that you do not use static IP. The main point, which I agree with, is that if you don't know what you're doing, it would be possible to get into a pickle it might be difficult to back out of. If you are comfortable, then go ahead. It's made my resume much faster - although not as fast as I'd like it but that's an Android issue and for another day  http://android.modaco.com/content-page/325...tandby/page/40/ Edited January 2, 2011 by simonta
Guest trevor432990 Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 @aintcrackedityet I have same router as you and have set-up a static IP address for my Vega on it so if you want to carry on and do it let me know and I'll put some instructions together for you.

Thanks for you advice all aintcrackedityet It's not really the device, it is a common bug with android 2.2. It appears to depend on which router you're using. I had exactly the same problem with my HTC hero running 2.2 as well as my Vega. I swapped for another router I had about and both are fine. M
Guest jorgthegreat Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 This done me head in for ages then i found a solution, on my router (Linksys), under security tab i had a tick in the box for the following: Block Anonymous Internet Requests Unticked this & it works fine on this & my ZTE blade
Guest Cardblower Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I found that my Vega had these problems when my neighbours router was using the same channel as mine. I simply changed the channel my router was using and it reconnects every time, no problem. Hope this helps, regards Andy.
Guest REdman88 Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 In my case (Asus Wl500GP Router) i had to change the WPA encryption mode from TKIP to AES, and now "FINALLY" my advent connects to my wifi in 5 sec, and every single time..before (TKIP) i always got..connect..disconnect..connect..and so on.
Guest aintcrackedityet Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 Attention vega specialists, I have access to 3 vegas in 2 seperate households connected to seperate netgear dg834g v5 routers latest software. They will all connect and run fine and then on an occasion after a vega power down and then power up, I get the scan, connect, disconnect situation all over again. The only way to get the vegas to connect again is to reboot the router, then it connects straight away. Now Either two seperate routers are faulty ( although everything else connects to them fine ) or theres an issue with these vegas. or theres a bug in the vegas. Can someone with more knowledge then me remedy this bug as quite a few people are falling foul of this issue. What is causing this ????????????????? Thanks all, aintcrackedityet
Guest simonta Posted January 15, 2011 Report Posted January 15, 2011 I had the same issues and fixed using 2 steps. 1. Assign a static IP address (much faster connection after resume) 2. Enabled the Vega to use Channel 13 which is the best in my apartment. Number 1 is for technically competent only and relates to connection speed after resume. Number 2 relates to scan, connect, disconnect, scan.... Out of the box, the Vega does not connect to channels above 11. This is an oversight IMHO for the UK market (Google for wifi regulatory domain for info). To fix this, download Wifi-Buddy and navigate to Preferences->Advanced Settings->Regulatory Domain and select 14 Channels. Wifi Buddy is unusual in how it changes settings. Once you select 14 Channels, don't just press back. Long press back and click Save. For the technically minded, edit ro.wifi.channels in /systtem/build.prop to read 14. If this last one helps, please post back so others may benefit.

These should be connecting automatically, but intermittantly they don't. The only kit that doesn't connect is the vega. While laptops, phones all connect without issue everytime, the vega goes through it's satanic, scan disconnect cycle. As I have asked before....what is causing the vega to do this. I have started a new topic to determine if this is a problem with certain routers only. Thanks again aintcrackedityet
Guest gaz_d Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 I have the same problem with my vega, but according to my other half ( an IT consutant) we already have a static ip. Itonly seemed to happen after I mistakenly tried to connect to a neighbours ps3 instead of my own.
Guest il_cholo Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) I had a similar issue on a wrt320N, in my case problem was automatic antennas set up, I fixed it setting one for transmission and the other for receive, never got disconnected again, was a real pain until I found that.
