Do any of them actualy work? If so, are there any that will let me send texts from a phone in the UK to a phone in Australia for free?

chompSMS (a free SMS app) has an optional integrated free text feature called TextFreek. As long as both parties are registered to use TextFreek, they can send free messages to each other. Of course you're sending messages through some stranger's server (as you are for normal SMSing), so you might want to keep that in mind.

I was already using chompSMS for the UI (like the iPhone), so it was easy for me to start using TextFreek as well.

Thanks, i'm now using chompSMS, but with chomp credits instead of TextFreek

- several providers (a huge number of countries and carriers/operators);

- with replies (for USA/Canada);

- it's free for the SMS recipient. Some providers do charge for receiving SMS if the recipient sends a confirmation SMS;

- history (removable).

Providers add minor ad block at the end of SMS messages.

yes there are a lot of applications are available on internet through can you send free text to any Country in the world you just need to search them in Google Search enging and it will provide you a lot more then your expectations .
