Guest poskiller Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Hi All, I have had my vega for a week now and really enjoying it (I have installed the custom roms r5 & r6) Having just installed R6 I was looking at the apps I clicked on recovery to see what was behind the icon - the device rebooted but now all I have is a blank screen. I downloaded the original rom from the myadevent site but when I run it I get a dos box and it states netflash has started but the I get a message USB device not found press enter to continue which I did I have tried getting the device into recovery mode as per the instructions on the advent site but I don't seem to get anywhere I don't know if I have just turned it into a nice paperweight so any advice would be appreciated Thank you Andrew
Guest cyquest Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Hi, this is a Clockwork Recovery problem. Try more to get into the Recovery Modus it will work.
Guest rvdgeer Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Hi, this is a Clockwork Recovery problem. Try more to get into the Recovery Modus it will work. Yes, but you probably need to power it off first... Press and hold the power button for over 5-6 seconds... This way you make sure it is power off... You can try to power it back on after that and see if it boots... Probably not, so power it back off and follow the step by step guide to flash the firmware back... You can find the link in my signature...
Guest beaker656 Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 I did exactly the same thing, oh look something new, wonder what that does..... To get round it I followed the 1st guide from the link below. You need to pick it up from point 3 then jump to point 7 as it's already in recovery. It worked for me. I believe you have to push the latest official ROM to the device to update it and get it out of recovery. Then update it with Paul's pack (if you've bought it) http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...p-update-guide/ credit to rvdgeer for the above

I'd be interested to hear if this worked for others.

Guest poskiller Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) Hi All, Sorry for not responding sooner but I stayed up trying to get into to recovery mode, in the end I swapped to another laptop this morning and using the link in beaker656 mail to rvdgeers instruction and I now have the standard rom back on the device. The speed of the responses and the advice sum up the people on this forum, quite frankly just brilliant Thank you to everyone who took the trouble to respond especially I know this wasn't a new topic but I just couldn't get into recovery mode last night. I doubt with my experience I will be much of contributor in terms of technical suggestions but it has inspired me to chip in. Thanks again Andrew Edited January 3, 2011 by poskiller

Connected usb and tried to boot into recovery - nothing. Pressed the power key for 6 seconds until the backlight went out. Tried recovery again and bingo - worked first time. This was after about 20-30 unsuccessful attempts.
