Guest PurpleRob Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Does anyone know if there is an app out there so that I can send/receive text messages from my Vega from my mobile (Htc Desire). Thanks for your input Rob
Guest simonta Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) Don't know of any apps but there are many web services that can do this possibly including your current mobile provider. For example, I'm with T-mobile and can send a "webtext" from my online T-Mobile account. I haven't looked for a while but there used to be a couple of free services with restricted sending (no more than so many characters and only x texts per day) and adverts. Guest MaxiP Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 I was going to ask the same question as it's so much nicer using the Vega's keyboard / screen that the phone. I've had a quick look but can't find anything yet.

Guest PurpleRob Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Hi easysms can do this quite well, you install it on your phone then go to a website on the Vega to send a message Thanks for your assistance but not quite what I wanted, I tried it and there were several shortfalls in the app. 1. Text messages took ages to send if they sent at all. 2. It doesn't send a notification to the Vega to let you know a message has been received. 3. The site is incredibly slow. I was thinking of more of an app to tether my desire with my vega via bluetooth to let me know when text messages have been received, so more or less the notification is almost instant. Unfortunately I don't think the app exists, only in my imagination methinks LOL.

Guest wraggy Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Hi, You could try sipgate.co.uk and http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applica...ector_esqt.html It's not free and I've not tried it from the vega, might work for you Thanks, W
Guest PurpleRob Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 If you have a mobile why would u want to send an SMS from the Vega?? Sorry but that makes no sense to me im afraid ... Long story but I get a lot of phone calls from work on my days off etc and I'd rather not speak with them as i don't want to end up back on duty. So it would give me the option of turning the phone off (most of my friends text me), also it means only having the one device on (vega) as it is more useful.

Couldn't you just have your phone send all calls to voicemail?
Guest debs626 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 I use both Whatsapp and pingchat on my phone - both send txt msg over wifi (little bit like a messinger app) but your friends/contacts need to be using the same apps. Not sure how well these both work on the vege. Both apps work on Blackberry, android and iphone/ipod
