Guest The Alpha Gamer Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) Is there any way I can get rid of all the Orange apps without rooting my phone? If not, is rooting safe? I heard it makes you more open to malware. If it is safe, is there a simple guide anyway on it? I've tried searching and couldn't find anything EDIT: Thanks guys! I'm de-oranged now Edited January 3, 2011 by The Alpha Gamer

You can turn it off after deinstalling your apps. Download and run Androot. After that you have a SUPERUSER APP on your phone. If you run it ignore the message that you have already root access -it's a bug- and apply root access. After that use Titanium Backup (market) to get rid off your orange apps Please note: Removing the Boot splash screen and the boot animation is a bit more complicated... Easiest way is to install a Custom Rom Edited January 3, 2011 by rapidone
Guest uptime Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 If not, is rooting safe? You can unroot when you are done and/or use softroot (root gone after reboot).

Which version do I download and how do I use it after it's installed? Just run it and click a root button?(I already know how to install from the memory card so that's ok) And while chaing the boot stuff would be nice, i'm not so bothered about that, i just don't like the app menu being full of apps i wont use
Guest Stuart_f Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 I've tried searching and couldn't find anything Really? Did you? I hate people who put this at the end of their post when it's clear they haven't bothered at all. A quick search for "remove orange apps" turns up this 12-page monster thread on the exact subject.

"Root" in this forum didn't show anything, "deorange" in this forum didn't show anything, and those are just the few i can see in my history atm without going further back. So yes, i did search, tyvm and to add to my earlier post, i should point out i have the white model with the tft screen, if that's important
