I know nothing. Like, nothing. I looked at the 2.1 kernel source files and went 'waitwut.". I'm looking for someone to teach me the basics (preferably over skype/msn/gtalk) of the linux/android kernel, and how specific modules get added/removed/changed/fixed type thing. My end goal is to update the 2.1 kernel sources to work properly on 2.2, and possibly use it to make my OC kernel.

If you require/request/would like payment, this can be arranged via paypal, message me about it.

I asked for similar advice on the miui thread and lcr-f thread...

For now the best "community" kernel il the roggin one, with wifi-tethering enabled. It has full hw support (maybe light and proximity sensors are bugged, but official bin kernel is bugged too).

I asked for sources, but no advice since now..........(((

Kernel source that is used is acer 2.1 source, me roggin and xian base our kernels from phh modifications. light and proximity sensors has always been working in all kernels we have had. The thing is acers drivers for proximity does not follow android standard that just has close/far as options (binary). Our driver gives a number distance. This is just a one line fix in framework.

Phh source: http://gitorious.org/liquide/kernel (it includes bcm4329 source that should work with our device, but not me or roggin has got it running well yet. it starts and loads firmware but then it has some freeze problem when starting wifi)

Roggin has not released source for his yet (I think he has only patched wifi, but that fix still seems to have some problem with more power usage. He fixed tethering by hack acers module to load with his kernel.)

My source tree: https://github.com/cleaton/android_kernel_acer_salsa (I added BFS scheduler and broke something so it is not booting anymore, if someone can see what I might have missed please tell me!)

xian source tree: https://github.com/xian1243/android_kernel_acer_salsa (He added/is adding FM radio support, I dont know if it works yet)

yes, this is probably the best way #acer-liquid @freenode

Gotta learn how to do it eventually. Even if it's just the basics, I can learn more than you think just knowing the basics.
