Guest gusthy Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 What a stupid thing. I realized that proximity sensor is at the left side of the phone, not at the middle. This means that if you hold it on your right hand (as most of the left-handed people do I guess), it is likely not to detect your head. So my question is if I am abnormal as left handed person, or ZTE?

I assume the proximity sensor works as it shuts off the screen when next to my head. I would have thought it works for right handers too otherwise maybe they'd be more complaints B)

I'm pretty sure the proximity sensor should work regardless of which side of your head that you hold it unless you have a very peculiarly shaped head! If you're having problems with your proximity sensor, it seems to be pretty easy to recalibrate and get it functioning correctly, providing you are using a suitable ROM.
Guest Fi5h Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Right Handed - hold phone in right hand - I would imagine most people hold the phone in the hand they are 'handed' As for the sensor - I have noticed the screen flash on if I have tilted the phone away from me (hence unblocking the sensor) and even managed to mute the call with my chin  happened the once tho, so no biggie
Guest markusj Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 It's not about which hand is the stronger one, it's psychology. If you talk to someone who's close to you, you hold it in your right hand, otherwise you hold it in your left hand. So they say, I'm just a simple wannabe engineer
Guest reallordx Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 I'm left handed and hold the phone in my right hand during calls. The proximity sensor works just fine, as i always have to wait 1-2 seconds for the screen to turn back on, when i want to press the end call button.
Guest gusthy Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Strange. Even after recalibration sometimes the screen turns on for me (and I always press some of the buttons accidentally.)
Guest asim18 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) I'm right handed and always use my left hand & ear to use any phone. I also always keep my phone in my left pocket too. The only time I hold my phone in my right hand is if I'm masturbating. Never had a problem with the proximity sensor. Edited January 4, 2011 by asim18
Guest punkmilitia Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Sadly for me, I have no hands so I use my chin to talk into my phone with, he proximity meter works from any angle.
