I'm newbie so will ba asking some basic stuff, bear with me.

I've installed a few widgets, fancy widget and bloomberg to check stocks etc.

Do the widgets send/recieve data while the phone is in sleep mode? i dont want to be downloading data all day when i'm not even looking at the phone.

When they update info, they'll download data from Network. This will use up your data allowance unless, of course, you're connected to Wifi the whole time.

DroidWall - Android Firewall is a front-end application for the powerful iptables Linux firewall. It allows you to restrict which applications are permitted to access your data networks (2G/3G and/or Wi-Fi).

This is the perfect solution if you don't have an unlimited data plan, or just wants to see your battery lasting longer.
