Guest sebbo90 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) This could be a stupid question, why are the no builds based on android AOSP just of other rom's i.e the Chinese and the Japanese? Is this because the full kernel source isn't available to us? Edited January 4, 2011 by sebbo90

Guest rayraven Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 Arent kallt_kaffe's 2.1 rom's built from source, that's how they support cpu overclocking right?
Guest leromarinvit Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 (edited) Arent kallt_kaffe's 2.1 rom's built from source, that's how they support cpu overclocking right? Only the kernel AFAIK, 2.6.29 source is available (though somewhat broken as released by ZTE). Building a 2.1 AOSP ROM from source would probably be possible, but I guess nobody cares enough about 2.1. Edit: This only applies to 2.1 ROMs, 2.2 uses the same 2.6.32 kernel as every other Froyo for the Blade. I think it loads a module on boot for the overclocking stuff. I think several people have built a AOSP ROM, I did some months ago... the problem is not so much building it, but making something useful from it.. if you look at the 2.3 thread, there is a working gingerbread port, but you cant use it as a phone... or use the wifi (if I remember correctly)
Guest gusthy Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I think several people have built a AOSP ROM, I did some months ago... the problem is not so much building it, but making something useful from it.. if you look at the 2.3 thread, there is a working gingerbread port, but you cant use it as a phone... or use the wifi (if I remember correctly) There are many reasons: 1, it is hard to build from AOSP, because ZTE RIL is rather proprietary 2, No real need to do this, since ZTE ROMs are rather good ROMs, very close to stock AOSP, minimal customization 3, Even if it could work, it is a very big work. It would be more interesting to make a Cyanogen port, but it has very problematic points too.
