My Location

After R6 update, all google apps that use my location are not working. I can set a custom weather location but it cannot automatically determine location. Similarly google maps and places cannot find my location.

In Location & security settings I have ticked Use wireless networks and my wifi is working perfectly, also in Accounts & sync settings I have ticked background data and Auto-sync.

Can anyone advise what I need to do to get my location working again.

The VEGA does not have 3G, so the only way to use some applications that use location is to fake it.

Try 'My Fake Location' which is available from the Market.

I never got a location other than setting it manually .... im not sure the device has the capability.

However if you look at the "external gps" thread on here u will see you can use external bluetooth devices like smartphones, purpose build gps devices etc to give your vega GPS capability.

Just came across your post again.

Just a thought (if you are still having trouble):

Have you tried Settings>Applications>Development>Allow Mock Locations

Particularly if you are using 'My Fake Location'

Thanks for everyone's suggestions, but nothing works - I am beginning to think that I could never get my location on the Vega. I think I was getting mixed up with the wife's Archos 70 as it has my location working.

Yes its odd that the Archos had no GPS or 3g either but it found my location under 2.1 and I understand there is a fixed 2.2 which works too. But nobody's figured out why this doesnt work on the Vega.

it should work but it doesnt on the vega for some reason, so somethings broken somewhere.

Edit, I think it may be because its looking for a cellular connection rather than wifi. gonna look into it a bit more in the morning me thinks

I find it strange I can't get a location. I have an iPod Touch which is WiFi (no 3G) and that gets a location with no probs. I have tried My Fake Location but always get a Forced Close message when I try to use it.
