Guest newbe5 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Due to the stock gallery app crashing while viewing some of my albums, I installed Gallery3D from the Market, which seemed to overwrite the original. Then... when I uninstalled it, I had no gallery at all That wouldn't SEEM like an issue, as Gallery3D seems to work okay... However, it doesn't seem to have the same codec compatability as the version of the gallery that comes with the Vega, and so my TVersity streaming no longer works! Can anyone provide me with a dump of the normal Gallery apk that comes with the vega? Here's hoping!, newbe5
Guest thedicemaster Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 pretty sure you can just "install" gallery from /system/app/gallery3d.apk, unless you used a root file explorer to manually delete it. i encountered the same problem once on my phone. market may still see it as the market-version though, haven't found a way yet to make market forget it.

Yup, I deleted the Gallery3D.apk from /system/app because I was encountering all kinds of problems  The big issue right now is, while the Gallery 3D from the market WILL play the files, it won't actually stream from TVersity (instead the files get downloaded, then you can play them). I'd rather not use Rockplayer since this was working before... Can anyone help by providing the original Gallery3D.apk please (from the latest Vega firmware), as for some reason the firmware files do not want to extract?
Guest newbe5 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Bump! Can anyone do an adb pull on the gallery app please?
Guest simonta Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Bump! Can anyone do an adb pull on the gallery app please? Unzip the Advent Vega flash EXE.Download unyaffsUse unyaffs to unpack system.img This will give you access to all of the original files on the Vega. Unyaffs is linked from this page: http://jiggawatt.org/badc0de/android/index.html I would post the APK but it would be a big chunk of my upload limit. Give this a try and come back if you need more help. Cheers

The only issue is, now I am having the same problem as before with the Gallery, it crashes when scrolling through some of my albums. The one off the market didn't crash like this, but I had the Tversity streaming error :/ Anyone got any suggestions?

I've had similar issues on my hd2 and on my average which as they always happened on certain folders I tracked down to being down to some images that worked on my windows machine but were making my android devices hang.
Guest newbe5 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 (edited) I've had similar issues on my hd2 and on my average which as they always happened on certain folders I tracked down to being down to some images that worked on my windows machine but were making my android devices hang. I figured that would be the case, but how can I track the bad ones down? I have about 7400 images on my media card :/ Stuck between a rock and a hard place really... 1) The Vega Gallery3D works for straming video through TVersity, but crashes in my albums. 2) The Market Gallery3D works in my albums and doesn't crash, but won't stream through TVersity (so I need another media player, and rockplayer seems messy and has ads :/) What i really need is a way of renaming one of them so i can have them both installed at the same time! That would be the perfect solution! Anyone know how to do that? Edited January 6, 2011 by newbe5
