Guest debs626 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 (edited) For some strange reasong I can no longer stream AAC/AAC+ radio anymore. I've previously used Cherry Rplayer and A online Radio and both have streamed this format with no problems at all. I think (can't be 100% sure) that this problem has only started since I updated to the 1.06.5 r6 I can stream MPEG stations fine. Thanks in advance for any tips/advice on how to solve this  Edited February 18, 2011 by debs626
Guest remlap Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 TuneIN Radio still plays ACC radio stations fine. Tested with Real Radio Wales.

I've just tried that stream and a couple of other ACC streams in TuneIN Radio and they play fine on my Vega too. Hmmmm totally confused why Cherry Rplayer, A online Radio and XiiaLive won't play ACC streams. Is there a way off adding a radio URL to TuneIN Radio ?

There is an option on RadioTime.com to submit URLs and they add them to choose other streams. Is it a possibility that same time they removed Flash they also removed AAC support? Hmmm its a pirate radio station so they probably not going to support it lol You maybe onto somtething re the flash support ........ I may twitter @AdventVega and see if your theory could be right. Thanks for your reply remlap
Guest debs626 Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Just an update on this as I'm now starting to fall out of love with my Vega :'( Yesterday I downgraded the firmware on my Vega (one at a time) and tested the players that streamed ACC+ before ......... I've gone all the way back to the 1.2 firmware and for some strange reason I cant get it to stream my favorite station anymore :'( I know these apps defiantly work because they stream the same station fine on my Android 2.1 phone Can anyone explain this ?

This seems to be an issue with AAC+ (or possibly AAC+ V2) not working on the Vega. I've done a ton of testing on this today and it simply does not work to stream AAC+ from ANY of the radio streaming apps available on the market (that I have tried). All other formats work fine, but not AAC+. This works on my HTC Hero, just not on the Vega. Tried messing around a lot with build.prop to change the hhtp audio streaming settings but no luck. Anyone got any ideas how to make this work? Zeb Edited February 18, 2011 by newbe5
Guest debs626 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) I dont know if you've seen this reply I made in the other thread we hijacked lol but I got this reply from the guys over on the xiialive support page Thanks for the logs. In your case I see you are running a custom ROM "MoDaCo Custom ROM for the Advent Vega r7". Could be an issue with that particular ROM. From the logs I can see that the Android Media Framework is sending a signal that it completed playback, which is wrong. I'll see if I can send you a different version of the app so that I can see more log message output and determine if it's a bug in our app or actual Android OS. posted by XiiaLive Team | 1 week ago I've a feeling that its nothing to do with any of Paul's roms (as streaming has previously worked but I cant replicate the rom combination) but to do with either an official Vega update or flash ??? The latter may be my paranoia "/ http://xiialive.userecho.com/feedback/5483...-froyo-upgrade/ Edited February 18, 2011 by debs626

I have some ideas on what it might be, I just need some time to look in to it :D I need to test the streaming on a stock Vega rom with no MCR addition over the top, but that's such a pain in the ass as there is no Market :D I'll see if I get time to do this tomorrow and get back to you (this is the same process I went through with the mouse cursor until I discovered what the issue was). Also need to try using a Vega ROM with MCR rom but no MCK kernel incase it's the Kernel that is breaking it. Zeb
Guest newbe5 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) Progress: NOT working on stock Vega 1.06.5 ROM. NOT working on 1.06.5 with MCR5 NOT working on 1.09 stock Vega ROM NOT Working on 1.09 with MCR8 + MCK OK, so it's dead Jim... Now im going to need to test out Viewsonig G-Pad roms to see if they have support for this, but I don't have one so thats going to be hard! :D Anyone else can feel free to chime in at any time here ... :D Edited February 18, 2011 by newbe5

Guest TerryH Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Radio streaming works fine with xiialive on my HTC HD2 with Froyo (darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5) but not with the Vega. Tested this with 1.06.5 R6, R7 and R8. Seems like that there are some codecs missing...

Already tried a ton of changes to build.prop, including all the stagefright stuff, as well as changing the .prop completely to the cyanogen 7 one, still no luck unfortunately :/ Trust me, I've googled me ass off on this one, I think it might have to be fixed in the Kernel.

Thought you would have looked at most things. If it is the kernel the file in "sound/arm/aaci.c" is a bit different to the same file in the android common and tegra git, the one in Pauls git has a section on aaci_stream which I could not see on the current android file with same name. Again may not be this file at all as I am no expert but I was bored and was just looking in the kernel for any differences with aac sound files.
