Guest JustaBloke Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 As I have particularly bad taste, and as I'm not a great fan of DSG (or whatever they're calling themselves this week), I was thinking about how to improve (or spoil) the appearance of my Vega. Has anyone had the back off theirs and gone as far as spraying it? Maybe a white one (like that inferior tablet) or chrome or gold? We've had the customised desktop thread, how about the customised unit thread? Or perhaps it's all a bad idea and I'd be better off having a lay down instead...

Just waiting on my sheets of 3M Di-Noc (or Hexis) carbon, going to skin the back of it that way to protect and bling a little  Just removed the back off the unit to test it (been out the box like 3 hours LOL) and it's very easy, nothing attached to it really and no warranty seal etc.
Guest TylerDurdenK Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I've just had my first go a carbon fibre effect vinyl wrapping. It's not perfect (a few more bubbles I can't seem to get out), but looks pretty good I reckon.

I've got to say that when I first heard about this I was a little sceptical, but actually this does look pretty good. Can I ask how you cut out all the holes for the speakers etc? Did you make a template first?

(Ruffling, now that's a word!). 2o2m
Guest Bobbler Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 have a read of the Accessories thread on this forum, plenty of detail in how to on it.
Guest JustaBloke Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Wow. Not such a stupid thread to start after all then. The carbon effect looks good, but I'm still dreaming of chrome... :D
Guest montage Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 Isnt keeping the screen bad enough for you.. now you want chrome!!
Guest Bobbler Posted January 13, 2011 Report Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) Wow. Not such a stupid thread to start after all then. The carbon effect looks good, but I'm still dreaming of chrome... :D As said look on the other thread under accessories. I posted this link last night, this stuff comes in a range of colours and finishes - metallics (chromes, silvers, aluminium, brushed steels etc) , flat colours, wood veneers, leather, textiles. This is not just a flat film with a picture on it, but actually something they call "architectural" finished or cast finished - it's actually a 3 dimensional sculpted plastc rather than flat like traditional sticky back films like "Readyroll" which you get in DIY stores. http://solutions.3m.co.uk/wps/portal/3M/en.../DinocSelector/ Combine chrome and carbon too, looks really nice IMO :P - http://www.starvinyls.com/inc/sdetail/12337 Edited January 13, 2011 by Bobbler
