Guest fillo Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 hi folks, noob in need of a little help plz  so, i had sebs r6 rom on my san fran until last night, when i decided to upgrade to r8. i first did a backup in clockwork, then did a data & cache wipe also in clockwork. i then installed the 2 r8 zips via clockwork, and then did a full restore, again via clockwork. have i done this process correctly? by doing the restore (which took a good 5 mins), i havent restored my phone back to the r6 version have i? thanks for any help si ps. in hindsight, i suppose i only wanted to 'backup' personal settings and things. is a 'full backup' using clockwork maybe overkill? B)
Guest Waadulf Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 To simplify: You did a backup --> wiped the data & cache --> installed r8 (you should have stopped here..) --> restored to r6 If you restore, you just put your old r6 version back.. Just do this wipe data & cache --> install r8 =)

Guest fillo Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 kk, thanks guys. when i did the restore, i thought it would just resore my user data (?), not put me back on to r6! lol  so in doing the wipe cache/data > install r8, is there any way to retrieve my calendar entries, angry birds progress, email settings etc, or do i just have to start afresh with everything? thanks guys B)
Guest jamidodger1 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Go Backup and restore then advance restore then click on date one and then restore data, think that shouldwork
Guest lordofangels Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Or as above, advanced restore all, but not system It is OK to do it this way still Seb?
Guest Ash_P Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 It is OK to do it this way still Seb? Same answer as his post #3

Guest ZTE Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 If you want to backup your SMS messages, I found a nice little free app called 'SMS Backup & Restore'. Tricky name, eh?
