OK, I am a bit of a fool. Launcehr pro kept saying it was expiring in x amount of days but I kept putting off updating it because i'm lazy.

Now it has expired.

When I press the home button on my phone I'm given the internet browser at launcherpro.com. But it says forbidden with 403 error. I can't do nothing on my phone.

How do I fix this?

thanks

Easiest way I can think of is to download a new version, or another launcher to your PC. Then use ADB to install it with the command:

adb install C:\DirectoryItsIn\NewLauncher.apk

If you google you should find links and instructions on where to get and how to set ub ADB for android.

just happened to me too. I held down the home button then went to task manager > applications tab > launcherpro and uninstalled, then got the newer version off the internet.

When I hold down the home button all that pops up is the internet icon.

Hi guys,

This happened to me last night, too. I managed to get it fixed without resorting to a PC. If I remember correctly, I did the following:

1. Whenever you press the home button, Launcher Pro launches the web browser and directs you to their website, which returns a "403 Forbidden" page.

2. Re-direct the browser to Google.

3. Search for "Launcher Pro".

4. A couple of results down should be the AppBrain.com page for LauncherPro. Click on that.

5. The AppBrain.com page for LauncherPro should have a big green button at the top (roughly the centre of the screen when you arrive) that says "Download directly from the Android market". Click that.

6. That should launch the Google Market app at the LauncherPro page, where you can click "update" to update LauncherPro and recover the phone.

A bit rough and ready, but it got the job done for me. Hope this is some use to anyone who still has this issue.

Cheers.

Thank you SO much for posting this.

My wife's Epic became locked, and we kept getting a 'Launcher Pro has expired/please go to website' message, which then directed us

to what looked like a bogus website. We couldn't launch or access anything else on the phone. I pulled up your post and followed the

steps you outlined, got a new version of Launcher Pro installed directly off AppBrain's site and...viola...we are back to normal.

Thanks!

You're very welcome. I've found a loads of tips, help and solutions on MoDaCo, but sadly I have limited technical expertise compared to the geniuses that run this place. It's a great pleasure to be able to give a little back to the community for a change!

I had the same problem.

Go to androidpit.com then search for "Home Switcher", install and start it. After that klick on "launch" and it should run again.

Better: search an alternative launcher like ADW launcher on androidpit.com, install and open it. You can switch with "Home Switcher" between the launchers.

I'm trying to but Launcher Pro Plus. I get 403 forbidden when I do it online. When I click on Launcher Pro Plus under preferences it takes me to the paypal page but it does not tell me how much or where to pay?

Can anyone advise how I can get a Launcher Pro Plus code?

The first way should be to get a running system. In this way only type androidpit.com into the open Browser (with 403 forbidden). You should be redirected to androidpit.com.

i don't like such methods like them from Launcher Pro!

You can also remove LauncherPro with :-

adb uninstall com.fede.launcher

I didn't even realise that it was a time limited trial. I've just checked on App Brain and there is no mention of this it just says it is free and the LauncherPro website makes no mention of it either. Unless it is staring me in the face of course and I have missed it.

So, how long does the trial last then.

I've been using launcherpro for a long time and I never knew about any trial. I'm running the latest version which doesn't have the problem with expiry. I feel bad for the developer. He's obviously made a huge mistake by adding an expiry to older versions and just didn't realise that not everyone would update to the latest.

I agree and if this was a mistake then I also feel very sorry for the developer. It doesn't help that the forums on the LauncherPro website don't appear to be working so you can't even look there for any info or ask the question.

Anyway, I'm also on the latest so I'll forget it then.

Found a post from the developer which he made to the launcherpro forum before it went offline:

That's my bad actually, I didn't realize that if you had an old LP Beta set as your default, you wouldn't be able to use it to open the market to download a newer version after it expired.

Future versions will automatically send you to the market to get the new version. At this point, the only thing you can do is install ADB and use it to install a newer version, or use ADB to uninstall LP and then install from the market again.
