Guest john.smith Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 (edited) Claimed to be anti-scratch and pre-trimmed for Blade, not 100% perfect but I would accept the margins. Tested for a few days and it's also anti-slippery (sort of). Available at HK$138 in Hong Kong (US$17.6), definitely not cheap alternative like silicon case, but does put some character and uniqueness to my San Francisco  <EDIT> There will be a leather textured skin for San Francisco soon.... check this out! Guest That-Guy Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 As said above where was it purchased from and is it real carbon fiber? Does it stick on or clip? If it sticks on is it likely to damage/mark case when removed?

Guest fmvl Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Is this front and back? in second picture we can see near the usb connection the "panel" in a higher position.
Guest cobhc Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 As said above where was it purchased from and is it real carbon fiber? Does it stick on or clip? If it sticks on is it likely to damage/mark case when removed? I would imagine from the title of the thread including "sticker" that it would "stick" on. And depending on how it is stuck on, I'd guess it would probably leave a residue. Is this front and back? in second picture we can see near the usb connection the "panel" in a higher position. It will be front and back as there is pictures of both the front and back of the device with the white carbon fibre looking covering. Not sure what you mean by the panel being higher.
Guest fmvl Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 It could be the white version of the san francisco (never seen one). With the higher position, I mean that you can notice that it's not straight. Sorry for the English, hope you can understand now.

Also, you can tell that it's the carbon fibre covering on the picture showing the front because you can see the pattern in it.
Guest john.smith Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 The material is called Di-Noc from 3M. The quality seems to be good and can be removed with the help of hair dryer (slight heat is needed) without traces or stains. Yes, it covers as much as all the casing area except the edges for the margin. I will post up the link from that guy as soon as it is confirmed for sale. Is this front and back? in second picture we can see near the usb connection the "panel" in a higher position.
Guest IVIetaCreatoR Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Interesting, after a little googling Di-noc looks to be imitating carbon fiber, wood, metal etc, primarily used in cars. http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/blog/tag/phone/ I doubt if it offers any kind of protection apart from the looks tho :D
Guest elinx Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Carbon fiber vinyl, you need 4x8 inch for a smartphone ($8.- free shipping)
Guest Ron=) Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Carbon fiber vinyl, you need 4x8 inch for a smartphone ($8.- free shipping) I suspect it would be difficult to cut the vinyl yourself! Perhaps wait for the pretrimmed one the OP speaks of! =)
Guest lineage Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 sounds amazing, would like to order one as well
Guest RussellS Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) Hi, I know this has been mentioned in passing before but it was buried in one of the other "case" threads and could easily be missed. I have just come across this eBay item for a Carbon Fibre "look" skin for the San Francisco. It is not a silicone case but a textured vinyl film that is "shrunk" onto the phone case. Here is the eBay item of it being applied. I thought that this would be ideal for those who havn't had their phone in a silicone case and the coating has started to flake off at the corners and started to look a bit tatty. Russell Looks good when 1st applied , wonder what it would be like after a few weeks use , all dog-eared maybe
Guest RussellS Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) Looks good when 1st applied , wonder what it would be like after a few weeks use , all dog-eared maybe Yeah, that's one of those things that you don't know until you (or someone else) tries. Also, if it should get tatty after a while how easy would it be to remove it and would any damage be done to the phones original coating. I'm going to stick with my E71 silicone case for the time being and wait until some "proper" San Francisco silicone cases become available. Edited January 8, 2011 by RussellS
Guest jonep Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Looks good when 1st applied , wonder what it would be like after a few weeks use , all dog-eared maybe The problem with this is that is got to be stuck on to of the rubber and I don't know about other blades but the rubber from mine is gradually wearing away on the edged around the buttons, screen and jack. I sure this stick label will only increase this damage as it peals of like an old screen guard.
Guest Stryke69 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Yeah, looks really nice. I really would like to know how it looks after some weeks....
