Baseband possible echo issue fix

I'm trying to get back to original rogers/fido baseband. I have searched and found a solution, but the link given to download the files I need seems to be dead. I'm hoping someone here already has an original nandroid of fido/rogers 2.1. So I can work around the cert checks of official rogers/fido 2.2. I'm hoping this baseband will correct the echo issue i'm having.

The post that links to the files I need is here. Post 11

http://android.modaco.com/content/acer-liq...-e-rom-upgrade/

Thanks.

EDIT. I have the files now. The only thing is that the instructions say to use the same method to restore original recovery that is used to flash malez recovery 0.5.4. Will the current adb commands work the same?

"cd androidsdk/tools/

adb reboot bootloader

fastboot -i 0x0502 flash recovery malezRecovery_XX.img

sending 'recovery' (4876 KB)... OKAY writing 'recovery'... OKAY

fastboot -i 0x0502 reboot"

Only replacing the name of the recovery img?

Thanks again.

Yea it should work, but why aren't you flashing it the way acer/rogers intended it?

Because of the Rogers/Fido cert checks, this is the only way that I can get back to official baseband. I'm already rooted and using latest EMEA bin. I wish I could easily get back to the official baseband, this is a pain in the ass.

Hi split2th! I've searching for a solution for a long time now, so you found the solution? What is the problem due too? How did you happen to find the solution?

Please share your trick and explain it a bit so we all know the problem/solution and eventually help you solve the issue.

Give us some more technical details on what you have found please.

I have this problem too.

Btw, Good job and keep up the good work!

From what I understood restoring original Rogers baseband solves the problem?

Will this baseband be compatible with Froyo?

How do you know it is compatible?

Did you test this to see if the problem goes away?

PS: Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get the development going.

I've been searching, if you want to use a Recent Rom with an Old Baseband/Radio could you try this:

- Do a NANDROID BACKUP of the Rom you want

- Flash an Old Acer Rom - with baseband you want

- Install Malez Recovery and Root the Phone

- Restore NANDROID BACKUP

we should come with a new Rom with Old Baseband, am I correct? Do I miss something?

Btw: What baseband does solve the ECHO problem?

Hey KingsizeX. Sorry didn't mean to get you all worked up. This is only a theory based on something I've read here. Plus if it does work it will only work in Canada with Rogers/Fido network. On top of that i'm still looking for answers before I even try this. The files I got are for Rogers, and I don't want to start this until I am fairly certain that it won't simlock my phone to Rogers. I'm on Fido. People here have already mentioned that they did not have the problem on eclair, so if the devs were looking into this they would probably want to start there.

All I'm trying to do is get back to the stock Fido eclair for testing. After that I will test the stock Fido froyo. However I'd rather live with this issue then risk simlocking my phone to Rogers.

Any news???

Did someone fix this big issue?

Echo is the only thing I cannot stand about my Liquid.

I tried almost all available roms, but nothing changed :)
