Guest savagekevin Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 I've been trying some 2.2 ROMS and have been concerned about battery life in my new Blade. It's hard to tell since it's so new, but I think that I was getting worse battery life the last couple of days with FLB-Froyo r4 compared with the original phone. But tonight, I installed jellyfishRLS4 with new kernel, and a bluegingerbread theme and within minutes I could literally watch the battery go down just sitting here! On install it was at 60% and I was shocked to see as I connected to wifi and reset my mail etc. that in the couple of minutes I was doing that the battery had gone down by 2%. In the next 90 minutes the battery's been depleted to 36%. This is way faster than it used to be. It's largely been on idle. At this rate the phone's almost unusable, as it's not even going to last half a day on idle! I've seen references to facebook (which I haven't touched and don't have an account for but I see the app is there) and to the new Google Maps 5. Also, I haven't touched google maps on the phone yet either - will it run by itself even if I've never even opened the app yet? Any advice welcome. I've done a search in the forum for battery usage but couldn't really find anything. Apologies if it's been covered already. Android is entirely new to me. Kind regards and thanks for any suggestions.
Guest spatch Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Having the same issues too!! I flashed 2 ROMs. It seems like the battery needs to be charged each time you flash. Some posts regarding calibrating it here which I am trying out http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...e-battery-life/ See post 3 http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...bration-protip/
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 It seems a lot of people are having this problem. It's sometimes attributed to Google Maps as you said, and also something buggy in the touchscreen that uses 100% CPU on touch. I don't think there's yet been a proper solution
Guest Victor von Zeppelin Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Also, I fully charged and calibrated my battery 11mins ago - I'm on 94% and I've only been browsing round here on wifi for that time
Guest Rotmann Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I see that many people on the Japanese Jellyfish have battery issues, try instead Sebastian404's Froyo with the new kernel, battery life is considerably better than 2.1. Because this ROM is stock and very clean and not like the JJ fully modified (maybe something went wrong because his whole modifications or because of the overclocking stuff) i do believe that this could be related to the problems too.
Guest SWOriginal Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) Go back to flibbles?, i also had japjelly but i was getting really poor battery life (never even lost 1% whilst in standby tho) must be an issue with an app you've installed). using Flibblesans: took it off charge around 12am last night, used it for browsing untill around 2am, put it to sleep untill around 11am and been using it all day for facebook, ebuddy (battery killer), browsing, emails & played a song and its only just gone onto charge! thats the best day ive ever got out of my blade! open - settings>about phone>Battery use, to see whats using your battery Edited January 7, 2011 by SWOriginal
