Guest MarioUK Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Hi guys, I've only had my Vega since the 4th, but loving every moment of it so far, one of my best purchases in a long time! One issue I am having at the moment though is with charging. If I let it charge whilst im using the device, it charges fine and gets up to 100% in a decent enough time. However if i plug it in overnight, I get the charging light, and the battery icon on the screen shows a charging icon. I put the vega into standby and go bed, but when I get up in the morning, the charge level appears to be where it was left off when i put it in standby, and the charging light is off! If i unplug the charger and plug it back in again, it resumes charging, which is all very odd. Has anybody else noticed anything like that at all? Mario

Mario In my (Limited) experience, once your device has done charging the charging light should be a solid light rather than the flashing Light it shows when charging, unless something is wrong with mine. There has been previous posts in numerous threads about the Battery indicator when waking up from standby + charging showing incorrect values, but it sorts itself out and reverts to showing the correct battery % your charging light being off when you wake up might mean that it isnt actually charging, you dont happen to have it on the nightstand next to your bed where you could knock the charging cable part way out whilst sleeping...

No not at all, its actually on the floor, and the charger is clicked firmly into the socket! The light is definitely off when I wake up, and the battery charge is like at 40%. One thing i have noticed this morning though, when i unplugged it and plugged it back in, it very quickly jumped to something like 65%, and then continued to charge from there. When I left for work it was up to 70%, and sitting here now its down to about 68%. So it seems somehow overnight it simply stops charging for some reason, and nothing other than an unplug then replug of the charger kicks it off. The only time I've got my vega to 100% charge is when ive charged it whilst using it, or have left the screen lit up.

I would suggest trying another socket to see if its the charger, or just happens not to like the current socket (daft suggestion sorry) it might be your charger that's faulty.

I'll have a play tonight, maybe leave it charging downstairs or something and see how it goes!
Guest Higgsy Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 sometimes the battery indicator takes a few minutes to show the correct % after taking the unit out of standby. It probably has something to do with the Vega suspending most services when in standby, which isn't what usually happens on Android devices.
Guest English Haze Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Yes, I to have noticed that the battery charge level can take several minutes to set to the correct value (100%) after the device has been charging overnight suspended.

Mine's been off power now for about 4 hours now but still showing at 70% so looks like it never made it to 100% overnight, or it did, and the charger turned off and between it completing and me waking up it lost 30%! Wouldn't have thought that possible though as one thing I have loved about the Vega is the awesome battery life
Guest Prosody Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 You are not the only person who gets this issue : http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...le-on-stand-by/ Myself and at least one other person do, lots of talk about the charger not being great in other threads too. Think I'm going to buy another plug tomorrow and see if that works in Standby. :D

Im actually relieved I am not the only one as I thought something was faulty in my unit. Let me know how you get on with a replacement charger, and if it works, which one you bought! Mario
