Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Hi All, I've had my SanFran a while now, but as it's my work handset, I haven't had to make many calls on it. The last two calls that I've had to make have had a lot of hissing and interference. It sounds a bit like static or hiss. I'm using the R4 2.1 build by Paul, and unlocked with a Voda sim in there. I've done a forum search, but has anyone noticed anything similar? Cheers
Guest dr.gms Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Yes, I have this on mine. I've noticed this on several roms. I'm curious as to if all phones have this, or if it's a fault with this particular handset. I also notice this on youtube if the video is paused (no headphones), hiss for 1-2 seconds before the speaker is turned off.
Guest oh!dougal Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Like the iPhone, it matters how you hold it. The antenna is kinda behind the front hardware buttons. Orange manual pages 20/21 illustrate antenna-savvy holding. Ought to have FAQ status ... !

Ok, I'll try holding it differently and see if that helps. Otherwise I might try the wired headset see if that's any different. Oh and thanks for replies so far.
Guest Arr Too Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 The hissing may stop soon, after the panto period. (Sorry.)

Guest Arr Too Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I remember this sort of thing cropping up in the SAPO ROM topic.
Guest Stuart_f Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) What do you mean by earpiece? The built in one or an external one? I'm pretty sure you are discussing the same issue reported in http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...one-jack-issue/ I don't think there's anything much wrong with the headphone socket, I just think that there's hiss in all the audio that the phone produces. The earpiece on the handset, not the external headset. It's most offputting when trying to make a call and all I can hear is a hiss/white noise over the top of my call.
Guest isambard Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 i noticed strong hissing from someone making a call to me when they were using it hands-free with internal speaker. call was almost unusable.
Guest samjam Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 i noticed strong hissing from someone making a call to me when they were using it hands-free with internal speaker. call was almost unusable. I had a telephone job interview once, using my HTC mobile phone - and an adaptor so I could use some comfy headphones. I thought it worked quite well until about 5 minutes into the interview I was told "the bees are getting very angry" - apparently the other end were hearing a lot of buzz from my setup, and getting worse. So I unplugged my kit and just used it as a regular phone. I didn't get the job. I have quite a lot of conference calls where some of the callers use an iphone on speakerphone. Their voice fades in and out many times in once sentence. It's quite weird - like slow-motion-anti-feedback.
Guest fonix232 Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I did not experienced any hissing, although I do not use the stock wired headsets, but a Nokia AD-54 (from my old Nokia 5800, works and sounds ok, although the buttons on it won't work :S). Or maybe it is connected to the fact that all hungarian telephone towers are made by ZTE, every electronics, transmitters, etc.
