Guest Spies Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Would it be possible to build what is essentially a stock 2.2 ROM for the blade without any of the Chinese or Japanese BETA files? I want my Blade as close to stock as possible without anything fancy.

Its a streamlined 2.2 with as little extras as possible. Not sure which dialer and lockscreen it comes with.

Guest nvidiax Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 The Jap Jelly rom now has all the junk removed :D
Guest Simon O Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I'm not using any beta code in my ROM. Most of the system files are exactly the same as the ones in the Japanese ROM. The only changes between them are versions of the installed apps and the kernel. Anyway in my ROM when it's released there is no ZTE crap apart from the file manager because it's very useful and free and the task manager. Everything else is taken from elsewhere :D

Guest cmberry20 Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I like clean ROMs - saves me the time of uninstalling loads of built in apps. However, I really do like the following on my SF: 'Email' app - works well & easy to use. 'Alarm' app - simple yet has good features like assending tone. 'Calculator' 'Calender' 'Filer' app - simple interface & uncluttered Youtube Note pad As long as they are installed i'm happy.

If you assume 100 people downloading your rom and assuming no 3 people like exactly the same apps, then that's 30 different combinations. So you either build a FAT rom with as many different apps as possible, or a LITE one with hardly anything in. If you notice on many of the releases this is indeed the approach many devs have taken, i.e. FAT/LITE rom variations. As someone much more clever than me said "you can please some of the people all of the time, or you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can NEVER please all of the people all of the time" :D
Guest EndruBoy Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) Is it possible the new ZTE Blades in Europe will run the 2.2 ROM? Any chance for an official update? I'm asking it because of the warranty looses when installing a custom ROM. Edited January 7, 2011 by EndruBoy

Guest zurpher Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Is it possible the new ZTE Blades in Europe will run the 2.2 ROM? Any chance for an official update? I'm asking it because of the warranty looses when installing a custom ROM. Be brave and take the plunge. It's not that difficult and apparently "fool proof". You already loose the warranty if you unlock you phone afaik. Apparently there are ways to re-lock your phone. You can also re-install custom ROMs if needed. I think I read somewhere that the Greek blades get 2.2 but that doesn't helps you in Italy.
Guest dadashi Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 yes, we're expecting Greece's Wind to release 2.2 official update very soon oh great, when will that be? soon?
Guest zurpher Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 yes, we're expecting Greece's Wind to release 2.2 official update very soon Are there any reasons why a European 2.2 should be better than the Japanese one?
Guest ZTE Blade_ Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 oh great, when will that be? soon? they promised "early 2011" i believe within January
Guest dadashi Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) they promised "early 2011" i believe within January I don't know which 2.2 rom to choose :D JFish, FLB, Modaco, Seb's and now greek :P should I wait another week or choose one of the above....decisions, decisions... Guest rjm2k Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Are there any reasons why a European 2.2 should be better than the Japanese one? only that it will be newer and therefore maybe have more bugs fixed

I know that everything can be undone, but if the official ROM arrives soon I rather wait for a little longer. But maybe I'll try it. Thanks for everyone for the quick reply.
Guest ZTE Blade_ Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 only that it will be newer and therefore maybe have more bugs fixed and more "customized" for our region i suppose like gps.conf, build.prop files
Guest Simon O Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 are you using ril that came with the 03z? No, using the Eclair RIL like all other roms :D
Guest TheDOC1 Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 @flibblesan: Did you build everything from source? I've got big problems with libcamera and so on when trying to build from source.
