Guest UbaRolfey Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Well, now we do have a better 2.2 kernel, and we can at last clock it, I wondered what results people have had so far, and what improvements people have most noticed. Of course there is the big question regarding the battery use. Mike
Guest dansken86 Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Using JJ 5 (image) and tried a overclock at 710mhz.. Quadrant scores 1114! Only used it for a little while now so don't know for sure about battery but it doesnt seem to have any major impact at least. And my god things are running smoothly, think a lot is due to the awesome rom though

Guest Swimmerboy Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Stagefright is off, right? It used to give false results in Quadrant Lol, with those scores - not a chance! Not unless he's got it running stable at around 1,200Mhz :D
Guest Nognir Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Lol, with those scores - not a chance! Not unless he's got it running stable at around 1,200Mhz :D I thought so... Is there then any meaning in leaving Stagefright on? Or rather, is there a more accurate benchmark that doesn't get fooled by Stagefright?
Guest dansken86 Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I thought so... Is there then any meaning in leaving Stagefright on? Or rather, is there a more accurate benchmark that doesn't get fooled by Stagefright? Well yes, turned on all stagefright except the http one (videos working), and also increased vm to 32m.. Since that's how it's been for me on other roms(?), back then scoring ~950.. Don't know about the false scores.. quadrant stucks on video decoding if not on so yes tricking it but still a significant increase with this rom and a wee bit oc
Guest dmxpowa Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 my best score was 586 (airplane mode) on 710Mhz. (cant go any further as my phone crashes, but 710 is mad stable.)

(not until we get 2.2.1)
Guest IronDoc Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I've been using 691 and the difference to angry birds is really noticeable. Cuts down significantly on the time you have to wait after loading before it becomes smooth.
Guest Frankish Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 710mhz seems to be the highest i can go too without getting a reboot after 10 minutes or so use.
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Mines rock solid at 729MHz and I have set the underClock to 122MHz Very nice.
Guest Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 hope someone can time the battery life at faster speeds. Thinking about getting a san fran, sold my old one as wifi dropping was very annoying.
Guest IronDoc Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Mines rock solid at 729MHz and I have set the underClock to 122MHz Very nice. I'd read that it can be sluggish when unlocking if you let it idle at 122, have you noticed a slow response at all? Especially when receiving calls.
Guest Frankish Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 We could do with an undervolt overclock kernel.
Guest nvidiax Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Stage fright just about doubles your score, so just half it and it should be correct! I'm on 729MHZ and getting a good 626 with quadrant and 44.4fps with neocore.
Guest cobhc Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 We could do with an undervolt overclock kernel. If I remember right, Kallt told me that anything over 600mhz is using the max volts we can put through the phone, so undervolting might not even work past 600mhz.

But the lower frequencies run on a lower voltage than usual so the undervolt still saves battery.
Guest cobhc Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) True, I was thinking you were talking about some of the kernels I've seen for devices like the Desire where it's both overclocked AND undervolted lol. Edited January 7, 2011 by cobhc

Yeh I would like a bit of that :D So for it wake's up very nicely - as for calls - I have no friends..... That call me anyway Edited January 7, 2011 by StevenHarperUK

I get 589 at best with 725mhz OC I also set the min frequecy to 320mhz while screen on, so it wont take a nap while I use it.. When backlight is off it can go to the original minimum. Guest mouseman99 Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Noob question here - How does one overclock? There is a guide anywhere as I cant see to find any info on it
Guest Arr Too Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I have no friends..... That call me anyway Awww...!!! I'll be your friend!1!**!1! (As would many here, I expect.) ** Note: probably won't call though -- Orange rates are ridiculous. :D
Guest UbaRolfey Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) I think the best I have so far is only just over 500, but it makes a massive difference, and the battery doesn't seem to be hit to hard........ so far! The rom is absolutely screeming running ADW ex @710 it blows both laucher pro and laucher 2 right out of the water for smoothness, in fact you can actually run the water and leaves live wallpaper without too much of an overhead at all. what seems to be the best heap size people are going for, I'm using 32 currently, and who is overclocking the bus, and the cpu, I wonder if you are better to leave the bus alone if you're hitting the cpu as well, as overclocking the cpu will probably take everything else with it as well anyway. Guest UbaRolfey Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 hmmm, i seem to be a little slower than some of you and I'm not sure why, I'm now running fine @ 730, but my score is only 512 and 40 fps on neocore. Now I know this is still quite good, but perhaps a little slower than some of you, but I cannot believe how fast the UI is, super duper smooth, the appdraw up there with w7 phone for smoothness. Mike
Guest nassi Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Not all CPUs are born equal! Gonna keep mine at 600MHz if I ever bother to put Froyo on it. But maybe I'll test just how far it can go... Yeah, ot.
