Guest godsakes Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 (edited) just installed jap jelly rs5 last night and downloaded the latest youtube app (v2.1.6 i think) from the market. The app itself works (vids load when you use it directly), but when you try to view a youtube vid from a browser i get the 'sorry this video cannot be played' error anyone knows what's going on? Guest rufree2talk Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 the browser needs Flash to play videos... not just youtube videos, other website's videos too, and even all other flash content on websites... the ZTE Blade's processor is not good enough for Flash hence we cannot install it... and without trying to sound condescending, this answer would have been easily found if you would have just Googled it...

Are you using the stock browser? I have problems with Dolphin/mini doing this with Paul's r3
Guest nassi Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 I have problems with watching youtube videos directly from the browser even on the stock firmware... Some videos will play after trying a few times but some just won't.
Guest godsakes Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Are you using the stock browser? I have problems with Dolphin/mini doing this with Paul's r3 i've tried the stock browser, dolphin, miren and skyfire - same problem never had the problem on 2.1 with youtube app 1.6.x
Guest wbaw Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 just updated to jap jelly 5 & it still works fine for me.
Guest godsakes Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 (edited) Update: strangely if a webpage has a embedded youtube clip the browser will launch the youtube app to play it, but it doesn't on the youtube mobile site itself i've tried installing older youtube app versions and other browsers but still get the same problem Edited January 10, 2011 by godsakes
Guest toge64 Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 i have the same problem, ive reported this to the rom makers, doubt they'll do anything about it tho as its not important :D
Guest lixcab Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) I think this is a stagefright problem with the OSF. If you switch it on, you will be able to play HQ youtube videos from browser and other apps. However, you will get the "green" and "RGB" layers not aligning problems with the video. I wonder if we can fix this by changing LCD density? :D Using JJRLS6. Edit: Been googling a bit and have seen a "fix" with lower lcd density? Would anyone like to give this a go? Edit at build.prop or maybe use this app from appbrain: http://www.appbrain.com/app/lv.n3o.lcddensity At work at the moment with no wifi so I can't test. Please let us know if you get a fix. :P Edited January 11, 2011 by lixcab
Guest Rotmann Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 When using stagefright put them all to true except stagefright-http which should remain false. This way you won't have green bars in YT HQ videos.

AFAIK stagefright is disabled on RSL5 but i can still watch the youtube HQ version using the app and embedded wepages, it's just the m.youtube site itself when viewed from a browser doesn't seem to trigger an event to launch the youtube app to stream the video
