Phone gets rolled back to a weird state with corrupted backups?!

This is extremely weird.. I am using alpha4 of Pauls 2.2 ROM, and after trying to install an app called MyBackup or the like, the phone rebooted it self, and when it switched it self on I could not recognise it.. half of the apps were gone. Order the icons were sorted in was something I never done. Launcher Pro was missing, despite it being installed from day one, but some apps I installed after it were there.

And that is not the strangest thing. All the backups I tried to restore to, were exactly same, despite them being fully working previously. ..what the heck is going on? :D
