NEED HELP PLEASE! GT540 NOT UPDATING FROM 1.6 TO 2.1

Hi I was trying to update my phone to 2.1 but it failed. I was using the lg mobile updater tool from the lg website and sucessfully installed the drivers. I started the update and got to the second section called 'download' and it failed saying it cant find the nessecary lg mobile cell s/w check your internet connection. My internet was working the whole time and i clicked the restart but i got the same message. WHAT DO I DO? PLEASE HELP
