Guest billbofagends Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 hi folks, got my sf last week and so far very impressed but now I have got to the point where I want to start fiddling with it. I'm trying to flash cwm on to the device but I don't seem to be achieving anything or getting any errors. It is currently running a stock OUK_P729BV1.00B08 rom (TFT screen) and I have carried out the following so far. 1.Tried various winxp usb drivers and ended up using what I found on the forums here - winxp let me use this and I can run the fastboot tools and adb binary that Paul lists here 2.Used romboot to backup the various partitions (see: romboot). This has worked and I've taken a copy of the romboot folder for safe keeping. 3. I then read a couple cwm posts on here, one by Seb404 and one by Paul. Using fastboot I seem to be able to flash either of these successfully (sending 'recovery' (3492 KB)... OKAY writing 'recovery'... OKAY). With cwm supposedly flashed across ok, if I reboot back in to recovery mode I still get the basic android logo and no special interface. In normal mode, Ti bkup reports that it hasn't got root access and Rom mgr reports that cwm image isn't installed. There's a good chance that I'm a being a blatant n00b here and have missed something obvious. Should I get more options in recovery mode with cwm installed? Also, with cwm installed, should I expect root privs? I'm a little concerned that with my n00b approach that I will brick it if I'm not careful. Will the recovery.img taken using romboot allow me to revert back to complete stockness if cwm doesn't flash correctly? Am I right in thinking that providing the boot rom isn't messed up I should always be able to recover from a potential bricking? tah very much for the help, sam.
Guest billbofagends Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 woops, that'll be a down vol key to get in to recovery then. doh! i'm now seeing a nice upside down ui! woop woop.

If you flash this newer version of ClockWorkMod (Created by Seb) the screen will be the right way up: DOWNLOAD Install it the same way as you did with the other version, and install straight over the top too :D
Guest billbofagends Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Seb's cwm flashed and I've wacked the modaco r3 2.2 rom and so far all seems good. I used cwm to do a nandroid backup so I have a data.img - what tools can I used to extract files from this? The procedure to install 2.2 said to wipe data/factory resest in cwm so I lost a few txts but more importantly I lost my angry birds progress! gah!
