Have you changed the permissions?If not , you should. root explorer/system/app(remember the mount the sdcard in R.explorer) ,long press on badgeprovider email.apk and logsprovider, tick all user permissions, unmount, clear data in applications, then reboot. Remember if you setting up hotmail, to follow the solution that Johnston posted earlier in this thread(to set up as if its exchange). Hope it helps. Might not be the best way, but the only way I could get push email working with gmail was to set it up as an exchange account.
