Guest simonta Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 (edited) (EDIT. Started adding links and FAQs. Constrained by time so will need to drip feed) (Paul, please consider a sticky. And I do recognise the irony in this post!) Hi all, and if you're new here, welcome! This is a fantastic site for getting help with your Vega and for unleashing it's capabilities. It gets better by the day and there are developments underway which will take it to another level again over the next couple of months. I do have a plea though. In order to make it valuable, it has to be easy to find what you're looking for. The ease of finding useful information tends to be inversely propoprtional to the number of threads in the forum. Please, if you have a question or a problem, search the forum first. The overwhelming majority of questions are asked over and over again and have been answered quite satisfactorily. In particular, if your problem or question is one of these, then the information you need is already in the forum. Please search for it.How do I get into recoveryhttp://www.myadventvega.co.uk/full_system_...nstructions.pdfI think I've bricked my Vega. What should I do?http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...t-bricked-vega/My Vega won't boot. If you can't boot normally (it won't get passed the "Booting..." screen or you get errors and crashed followed by a freeze or a reboot, you currrently don't have any options other than to reflash. What's this ROM, flashing, stock, updates thing? The ROM is a copy of the entire system. Flashing is the process of copying the ROM to your Vega. Note that flashing will reset everything on your device. Stock refers to the original Vega ROMs of which there are 2 (9 Jan 2011). These can be downloaded from myadventvega.co.uk. 1.04 was the original shipped version and 1.06 is an update which removes Adobe Flash and fixe some stuff. Flash was removed because it is not certified for the Tegra platform which the Vega is based on. There is a fix for this in Paul's pack and in other threads here. An update replaces files or adds something new on your existing system. It does not need to be flashed and does not wipe your device. What's Paul's pack (or MCR (Modaco Custom ROM)) or r4, r5, r6. These are the updates Paul has produced which are essential for using your Vega to it's full capacity. They are called ROMs but they are not. They are updates. Paul pack most importantly adds the Android market which enables you to download applications. It also contains many excellent fixes and performance enhancements.Flash isn't working so I can't use iPlayer etc.http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...sh-on-the-vega/I can't load the USB drivers. What's ADB?What's the difference between recovery and ADB?Should I install clockworkmod? How can I remove clockworkmod without having to rebuild my machine? How can I install the small notification bar?How can I install the full width notification bar?If you are reading a thread about a particular topic and think of something else which is not related to the topic, please look for another thread on your new topic rather than divert the thread (yeh, right, thread drift - been there since the dawn of time, will always be there :D) If you disagree, flame me. If you agree, then let me know and I'll take the trouble to add the best links to the above. This will also help to keep bumping the thead if it doesn't get stickied (unless of course you want to flame me which then presents you with a dichotomy :P) Please help the community by thinking before starting new topics. Thanks all and welcome again. I'm sure that you'll find this place very friendly and useful. Cheers Edited January 9, 2011 by simonta
Guest trevor432990 Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Think you have the bones of a good FAQ section there Simon and as you say it just needs the relevant post links to be added to the questions and then it can be pinned by Paul as you suggested and we can then all contribute when question trends start :D

I agree - a FAQ section would be fantastic addition - maybe locked to stop it getting messy and updated only Mods/appointed members.
