Touchscreen and touch buttons sensibility

Hi guys! It seems I'm the one who always talks about anykind of hardware sensibility, I should be a very sensible person :D :P

Just this:

everybody knows that our touchscreen panel is not the best on the market and sometimes you can find some issues in its feedback especially in the corners and borders. In particulare, the four touch buttons at the buttom of the screen don't work that well especially when you don't have the device in your hand but it lays on the table (or in your car on the support when you are drivin'). So in these situations if you touch one of these buttons with one finger they don't work at all, if you touch the device with one finger near the proximity sensor and then one of the buttons they magically work.

So, when the device is in your hand there's no problem because you touch it in many points, but when the point of contact is only one there's the problem.

I'd like to know if you've found any solution to this, dunno maybe sticking a piece of finger near the proximity sensor B) :P :P

That's really weird to me, propably is related to capacitance and electro-magnetic issues because of the capacitive touch-screen.

This is a well-known problem,unfortunately... However the prox sensor isn't related in any way to touch sensibility :/ Proximity Sensor only turns off the screen of the phone during a call, when you bring it near your ear,and turns on the screen when you remove it from your ear. However, which ROM are you using? I found the best settings for touchscreen sensitivity at 30/75,the phone is very responsive even if you are not holding it in your hand B)

I use 20/75 but I prefer super sensitivity.

Well, at the moment I'm on T&L, yesterday I tried your FroyoMetal v3b but bluetooth it's very important to me now (good work I'm waitng for full v3 with OC etc.).

Anyway the problem relates to the touch buttons at the buttom of the screen (home, search, back, menu) and it's a recurrent problem with any rom I think. I didn't say that it's related to the proximity sensor itself but to the fact that you need to touch also near the proximity sensor to make the 4 buttons work (I found that you can also touch in other places on the border of the touch screen to make them work).

1 single touch = the 4 buttons don't work (like disabled)

at least to touches = the 4 buttons work

Maybe some cases solve the problem? Like the silicon case for the antenna problem of the iphone 4?
