Guest grentuu Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I am buying a new Desire on payg from o2 tomorrow. (purely on a price basis) If it comes with 2.2 installed is there any reason to root the phone? My only concern with the phone is the storage issue and 2.2 fixes that doesnt it? Anyway great to be here

Anyway great to be here Firstly welcome to Modaco. Secondly great choice of device. You are quite right in that if it comes with android 2.2 there is not much reason to root. You only really need to root it if you decide to overclock it, underclock it or to install a custom rom. I would make sure it is on 2.2 and then install "app to sd" by "dolphin browser add ons" from the android market, this app will alert you if any apps or games can be transfered to the memory card. It saves you having to go through manually checking. If in six months you really "need" to install a custom rom or something then root it by all means.
